Localized Policy on Differentiated Grading

System to the Advanced, the Least, the Lost


and the Last (ALL2)
POLICY OPTIONS
• DepEd Order No. 8 s. 2015 – Policy Guidelines on
Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education
Program, holds that:
– classroom assessment is an integral part of the curriculum
implementation.
– special programs may further issue supplementary guidelines
in relation to the program’s specific assessment concerns.
– various kinds of assessments shall be used appropriately for
different learners who come from diverse context, such as
cultural background and life experiences.
Policy Options for the
Formulation of Localized Policy
on Classroom Asessment
The selected Athlete attending intensive training and
joining the athletic competition and missed classroom
instruction, quizzes, projects and other related tasks:
• should be exempted from taking the examinations or any
examination administered in his class during the training
or the meet;
• exempted from submission of requirements required
during his athletic leave;
• or to undergo any make up activities;
The Selected Athlete attending intensive training and

• the grade/rating of the athlete on the latest grading period


shall be maintained until the athlete reports back to
school;
• the honors held by the athlete in previous grading period
should likewise be carried over the next grading period;
The Selected Athlete attending intensive training and
joining the athletic competition and missed classroom
instruction, quizzes, projects and other related tasks:
• shall be advised to continue reading his/her lessons to
keep him/her abreast with the curriculum content
• present a certificate of Participation/Completion and
Academic /Subject grades achieved during the training
period to their respective schools immediately after the
training and competition.
The selected contestant joining academic
and skills contest:
• shall be exempted from taking the examinations or any
examination administered in his class during the training
or the contest,
• exempted from submission of requirements required
during his intensive training or to undergo any make up
activities;
• the number of quizzes taken by the contestant shall be
computed as basis in getting the average;
The selected contestant joining academic
and skills contest:
• the computed rating of the contestant in each subject
shall receive one time corresponding additional points
when they garnered awards (champion, 1st runner-up,
second runner –up) and as participant whichever is higher
irrespective of the number of activities joined.
• Participant - 0.25 point
• Division - 0.5 point
• Regional - 0.75 point
• National - 1 point
The Least, Lost and Lost Learners
• They need appropriate and just considerations for them to
be motivated to excel and advanced to a higher grade
level;
• The teacher should consider the profile of the learner in
giving tasks, assignments, test, projects, recitations and
other related tasks;
– Family background – the teacher shall look into the family
income, number of children in the family, who takes care the
child as to whether they are living with the parents, stepmother
or stepfather, guardians, grandparents or under the care of
relatives
The Least, Lost and Lost Learners
– Distance from the residence to the school – the teacher should
know the number kilometers hike, the mode of transportation,
the terrain of the road as to whether they cross a river, creek, or
ride on a banca, balsa which is the cause of his/her frequent
absences and late in the class.
– Learning abilities – the teacher shall have an in-depth study on
the intellectual capabilities of the learner. There are struggling
learners to cope up with the lesson, learn who needs
assistance to accomplish a task, a learner with a unique
learning style and a learner that complies with the general
standards set by the teacher.
The Least, Lost and Lost Learners
 The teacher should devise a rating system
commensurate to the learning abilities, family status
and distance travelled by the learner. Hence, a balance,
judicious and value laden rating/grading system can be
enjoyed by the learner.
• It is embedded in the Job Description of the Supervisors
to provide technical assistance to schools and learning
centers in management, delivery systems and
assessment modes for all types of learners consistent
with the national and regional policies and standards.
Supervisors are mandated to look into the assessment
modes for all types of learners given by teachers.
• The supervisor in coordination and partnership with the
Principal shall conduct random checking of class records,
other related grading forms, assessment tools, test item
B.CONSULTATION PROCESS
• The drafting of a Localized Policy on Differentiated
Grading System to the Advanced, the Least, the Lost
and the Last (ALL2) Learners will be presented to the
following group: PESPA, NAPPSHI, ISAAC, QPSTERA,
Federated PTA of the province, Student/Pupil Leaders,
Supervisors.
• The whole package of the policy shall be presented to the
group. Comments, suggestions, recommendations shall
be gathered to improve, strengthen and to achieve a solid
acceptance from the internal and external stakeholders
