COMPUTERS INSIDE AND OUT

MOUSE

• A computer mouse is an input device that is most often used with a personal
computer. Moving a mouse along a flat surface can move the on-screen
cursor to different items on the screen. Items can be moved or selected by
pressing the mouse buttons (called clicking).
OS

• OS = Operating System
• An operating system is the most important software that runs on a computer.
It manages the computer's memory and processes, as well as all of its
software and hardware. It also allows you to communicate with the computer
without knowing how to speak the computer's language.
RAM

• (pronounced ramm) is an acronym for random access memory, a type of

computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of
memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is found
in servers, PCs, tablets, smartphones and other devices, such as printers.
INPUT

• Any information or data that is sent to a computer for processing is considered

input. Input or user input is sent to a computer using an input device. The
picture is an illustration of the difference between input and output. The input
example (top) shows data being sent from a keyboard to a computer.
OUTPUT

• (1) Any computer-generated information displayed on screen, printed on

paper or in machine readable form, such as disk and tape. (2) To transfer or
transmit from the computer to a peripheral device or communications line.
MOTHERBOARD

• Motherboard: Definition. A motherboard is one of the most essential parts of

a computer system. It holds together many of the crucial components of a
computer, including the central processing unit (CPU), memory and connectors
for input and output devices.
MICROPROCESSOR

• Motherboard: Definition. A motherboard is one of the most essential parts of

a computer system. It holds together many of the crucial components of a
computer, including the central processing unit (CPU), memory and connectors
for input and output devices.
HARDWARE

• Computer hardware is the collection of physical parts of a computer system.

This includes the computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It also includes
all the parts inside the computer case, such as the hard disk drive,
motherboard, video card, and many others. Computer hardware is what you
can physically touch.
SOFTWARE

• Computer software (often called just software) is a set of instructions and

associated documentation that tells a computer what to do or how to perform
a task or it can mean all the software on a computer, including the
applications and the operating system.
COMPUTER

• An electronic machine which helps in solving problems quickly and easily. It

solves problems according to instructions given to it by the computer user
called programs or software. It is a digital machine(that uses binary digits)
used in all fields.
KEYBOARD

• A computer keyboard is an input device that allows a person to enter letters,

numbers, and other symbols (these are called characters) into a computer. ...
Using a keyboard to enter lots of data is called typing. A keyboard contains
many mechanical switches or push-buttons called "keys".
COOLING DEVICES

• a cooling system that uses a fluid to transfer heat from one place to another.
cooling tower. a cooling system used in industry to cool hot water (by partial
evaporation) before reusing it as a coolant. evaporative cooler.
HARD DRIVE

• The primary computer storage device, which spins, reads and writes one or
more fixed disk platters. The terms "hard drive" and "hard disk" are
synonymous; however, a "drive" technically refers to the entire unit that holds
one or more "disk" platters.
CPU

The central processing unit (CPU) of a computer is a piece of hardware that

carries out the instructions of a computer program. It performs the basic
arithmetical, logical, and input/output operations of a computer system.
