• 66.8% (281.7 million) of India’s youth live in rural areas


• Rural poverty is compounded by illiteracy, lack of
infrastructure and social divisions
• Empowering rural youth requires a nuanced and deep
understanding of poverty
• It also requires sensitive support structures, with credible
reach, in Panchayat and villages
