Bifurcation of PESCO and HESCO
In 2010 the distribution company SEPCO (Sukkur Electric
Power Company) has been formed by bifurcating HESCO
(modified) so that the areas of operation that were entirely
under the jurisdiction of HESCO have now been divided
between the two DISCOs.
TESCO has been created on 5th August 2004 as a
corporatized entity under PEPCO as one of the steps taken
towards vertical disintegration of the power sector of
Pakistan.
MEPCO
Overview
Multan Electric Power Company Limited (MEPCO) is a
public limited company incorporated on May 14,1998 in
line with Government policy of unbundling and
corporatization of Pakistan power sector.
MEPCO is the largest power distribution company in the
country operating exclusively in 13 administrative
districts of southern Punjab i.e. Multan, Muzaffargarh,
Layyah, D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Lodhran, Bahawalpur,
R.Y.Khan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari and
Bahawalnaga
