Wherein the calcium found in the Earth?

Calcium is rarely found in its elemental form, but is easily

found throughout the Earth mostly in the form of rocks and
minerals such as limestone (calcium carbonate), dolomite
(calcium magnesium carbonate) and gypsum (calcium sulfate).
It is the fifth most common element in the earth's crust.
Calcium carbonate is a key component of many rocks and
minerals including limestone, marble, calcite, and chalk.

Calcium is also found in seawater and is the eighth most

elements found in the ocean.
How calcium is used?
Calcium in the form element has several industrial uses, but the
compounds are combined with other elements that are widely used.
One important compound is calcium oxide (CaO), also called lime.
Chalk is used in a number of applications including metal production,
eliminate pollution, and water purification. Calcium is also used to
manufacture chemical additives.
Calcium compounds, in the form of rocks, and minerals such as
limestone and marble are also used in construction. Gypsum is used
to make plaster. Other applications include antacids, toothpaste, and
fertilizers.
Calcium is also a very important element in the life of both plants
and animals. Calcium in the human body is part of a compound
called hydroxyapatite is that makes bones and teeth become hard.
Calcium is the fifth most abundant element in the human body,
which make up about 1.4% of body mass.
How Calcium is found?
The first scientist to find and isolate the element calcium is a
British chemist Sir Humphry Davy in 1808.

Where does the name of calcium?

Sir Humphry Davy gave the name of calcium from the Latin
word, which is "calx" called by the Romans is lime.
Isotope
Calcium has four stable isotopes including Ca-40, Ca-42, Ca-
43, and Ca-44. Two isotopes of calcium (Ca-46 and Ca-48)
had a very long half life and is considered largely stable.
Approximately 97% of the natural calcium in the form of Ca-
40 isotope.
Interesting Facts about Calcium
• Most of the calcium salt formed in water.

• Calcium is an essential element in the development of the

reef.

• The amount of calcium in the body can affect the level of

health and damage the liver.

• Some of the best sources of calcium for our body including

dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and milk. Other sources
include salmon and tofu.

• Vitamin D is necessary for our bodies to absorb

calcium.
