and has been associated with:

Communication as a tool that

Communication is the process of transmitting ideas,
information, and attitude from the source to a receiver
for the purpose of influencing with intent (Rogers,
1994).
The process of understanding the purpose conveyed by
the sender to the recipient for the purpose of common
good (M.Baharudin & M. Khairie, 2009).

“all those planned or unplanned processes
through which one person influences behavior
of others”.

derived from two disciplines; leadership and
communication.

In an organization, leadership communication is
conceptualized as “a distinctive set of leader’s
interpersonal communicative behaviors, geared
toward the optimization of hierarchical
relationships” (de Vries, Bakker-Pieper, &
Oostenveld, 2010).

1. Leadership communication
Revolved around interpersonal aspects of leadership
which refers to the communicative activities in
interpersonal relationships such as verbal, non-verbal
and effective communication, and;
2. Management leadership
Centres around managerial aspects of leadership,
which include non-interpersonal activities such as
planning, organizing, decision-making, problem-
solving, and controlling (McCartney & Campbell,
2006; Levine, Muenchen, & Brooks, 2010; and de
Vries and Bakker-Pieper, 2010).
