Prerequisites for this module

• None

CT026-3-2 Human Computer Interactions 3

Aims of this module

• To understand the key issues in the field of human-

computer interaction.

• To know the approaches to designing and evaluating

systems that emphasise usabilty, that are effective
and that can be cost-justified.

• To be able to design and evaluate interfaces on the basis

of relevant knowledge and appreciation of human
capabilites applied to the tasks we increasingly depend
on computer-based technology to perform.

CT026-3-2 Human Computer Interactions 4

Module Learning Outcomes

• Appreciate a range of human population capabilities

and differences that impinge on interface design and
use
• Show awareness of fundamental issues of human
computer interaction and cost-effective assessments
of usability.
• Apply common techniques in HCI to Plan, Investigate,
Model, Synthesise and Evaluate a small-scale
prototype.
• Critically review human and business justifications for
system usability.
