BUDDHA

REJECTED THE EXISTANCE OF A CREATOR

DIETY
A HUMAN BEING MUST STUDY NATURE
(DHAMMA) IN ORDER TO ATTAIN PRAJNA
(KNOWLEDGE ) REGARDING THE NATURE OF
THINGS (DHARMA)
IN BUDDHISM – THE AIM OF SPIRITUAL
PRACTISE IS THE COMPLETE
ALLEVATION OF ‘DUKKHA’ – LEADING TO
NIRVANA
jainism
Rejects the idea of a creator diety
For mainifestation / maintenanace of
universe.
The universe & its constituents
(soul, matter, space, time,
principles of motion)
HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED –
GOVERNED BY NATURAL LAWS
AND AN IMMATERIAL ENTITY LIKE GOD
CANNOT CREATE A MATERIAL ENTITY.
CARVAKA – AJIT KESAKAMILI
There is no such thing as alms or sacrifice or offering.
There is neither fruit nor result of good or evil
deeds...A human being is built up of four elements.
When he dies the earthly in him returns and relapses
to the earth, the fluid to the water, the heat to the
fire, the wind to the air, and his faculties pass into
space.
It is a doctrine of fools, this talk of gifts. It is an empty
lie, mere idle talk, when men say there is profit
herein. Fools and wise alike, on the dissolution of the
body, are cut off, annihilated, and after death they
are not.
AJIVIKA – MAKKHALI GOSALA
is one of the nāstika or "heterodox" schools of Indian philosophy
Ājīvikas were organised renunciates who formed discrete
communities.
The Ājīvika school is known for its Niyati doctrine of absolute
determinism, the premise that there is no free will, that
everything that has happened, is happening and will happen is
entirely preordained and a function of cosmic principles.
Ājīvika considered the karma doctrine as a fallacy.
Ājīvikas were atheists[10] and rejected the authority of the Vedas,
but they believed that in every living being is an ātman – a
central premise of Hinduism and Jainism
The name Ajivika for an entire philosophy resonates with its core belief in "no
free will" and complete niyati, literally "inner order of things, self-command,
predeterminism", leading to the premise that good simple living is not a
means to salvation or moksha, just a means to true livelihood, predetermined
profession and way of life
