Fan Pump LPV45
The fan pump is a piston type variable
displacement pump. The transmission controller
energizes an EPC solenoid to adjust the swash
plate angle (delivery) of the pump by PPC
pressure. If the engine is stopped the fan pump
is set to maximum delivery by spring force.
(0 mA current, 0 bar PPC pressure)
Operating temperatures less than 40 deg.
Celsius:
• High fan EPC current.
•High PPC pressure to pump servo piston.
•Low fan speed.

Operating temperatures at 90 deg, Celsius :


• Low fan EPC current
• Low PPC pressure to pump servo piston.
• High fan speed. (Fail safe)

Fan Motor

The fan motor is a fix axial piston motor, type LMF55. Capacity 55 cc/rev.
Rated fan motor speed 980 rpm @ 53,9 litre/minute.
The fan motor controls the direction of the fan rotation.

Normal Fan Rotation
The solenoid valve (1) is not
energized (0 Volt) and the pump
pressure is cut by selector valve
(2).
Spool (3) is pushed to right by
spring force (4) while chamber
(C) is connected to post (T).
Oil flows to port (MA) to the fan
motor.
The fan rotates in normal
direction (Fail Safe function).
To prevent peak pressures
during engine start in the fan
circuit a safety / suction valve is
installed.

Safety valve pressure: 240 kg/cm²


Suction valve pressure: 0,8 kg/cm²
Rated fan motor speed: 980 rpm

Fan Reverse Rotation
The solenoid valve (1) is
energized with 24 Volt from
the transmission controller.
The selector valve (2) is
open.
The oil flows to port (C) into
chamber (D).
Thus pushes the spool (3) to
the left against spring force
(4) and opens port (MB).
The fan rotates reverse.

Fan Motor @ Engine Stopped
No hydraulic oil pressure is supplied
from the pump when the engine is
stopped.
Port (MA) is connected through a
suction valve (1) or check valve with
the hydraulic tank port (T).
The fan blade continuous to rotate
under inertia until it stops and
cavitation is prevented.
