Possessive adjectives

• The possessive adjectives show possession from one or more things to

one or more people.
• Ex.

 Have for affirmative sentences.
• We use have as a verb to express possession of someone or something.
• The structure is the following:
• Subject + have/has+complement.
• Ex.
• I have a girlfriend
• You have a house.
• He has a dog
• She has a grandmother
• The cat has a toy (The cat=it)
• We have some cupcakes
• You have many students
• They have lots of children.
Note. When we use he, she, it, we use has.
 Have Negative Sentences
• These sentences express no one possession.
• The structure of these sentences are the following:
• Subject+Auxiliary Don´t/Doesn´t+have+complement.
• Ex.
1. I don´t have a girlfriend.
2. You don´t have a house.
3. He doesn´t have a dog.
4. She doesn´t have a grandmother.
5. The cat doesn´t have a toy (The cat=it)
6. We don´t have cupcakes.
7. You don´t have many students.
8. They don´t have lots of children.
Note. We use the auxiliary Don´t with I, you, we, they. Besides, Does we use with
he, she,it.
 Have with yes/no questions. Short answers.
• These questions are to ask the possession.
• The structure is the following:
• Do/does+subject+have/has+complement+? = Yes, subject+auxiliary. Do/does.
• Examples.

2. Do you have a house? Yes, I do. No, I don´t
3. Does he have a dog? Yes,he does. No, he doesn´t
