Background Information

 Female woman who grew up within the county. Client has one child who
is now living with her godparents. Client did not finish school and has no
source of employment. Client grew up in Domestic violence and drug
abuse. Client has been living on her own since she was a teen. Client was
neglected by both her mother and father at an young age. Client also has
criminal charges due to misconduct/behavior.
Problem Statement

 Client is in need of counseling to help with trauma caused by domestic


violence. Client also seeking help for her drug abuse and human
trafficking. Client also seeking help to regain her relationship with her
daughter.

Strengths & Limitations

 Strength
 Client seems as if she has a drive to want to do better for herself and her
daughter. Client has faced life threatening situations and she seems as if she is
confident to overcome them.
 Limitations
 Human trafficking could be a limitation for the client. Client has concerns for
other individuals she knew who were dealing with prostitution/human trafficking.
Client stated she wanted to go back and help them. Another limitation for client
is that she suffers from drug abuse.
Assessment Goals

 Determine what type of rehabilitation institution would be willing to help


client.
 Look for barriers that could impact solutions in helping the client. Such as
wanted to go back and help other women.
 See how client can overcome the barriers that is causing her not to see
her child.
 Helping client take advantage of resources provided to her from SFVC

Questions
Question 1

 What are some biases you had going into the interview?
 Some biases I had while speaking with the client was that she was not going to
stay in the shelter because she had already been in once before. The first time
she came into the shelter she left the first day. Another biases I had was that the
client would flee due to her drug addiction and use of human trafficking.
Question 2

 What were some value differences between you and the client?
 Something I valued that was different that what the client value was her first
step to overcome her problem. The client stated she was disappointed in herself
due to the relationship she had with her daughter. I find a value in her for
allowing her child to live with her godparents instead of exposing her to the
lifestyle she has experience.
Question 3

 What events or life experiences have shaped them into the person they
are?
 The client has suffered from neglect from both her parents. Her mother and
father both suffered from drug addiction and they neglected her for drugs. She
never experience love and nurturing from a family. So she grew up thinking the
life style her parents lived was okay.
Question 4

 What is the staff recommendation about diagnosis, Interventions or


treatment?
 Recommendation for the client is that she needs to be admitted into a
rehabilitation institution. Reasons for this is because of the situations she has
encountered with drugs and human trafficking.
Question 5

 What does research say on their diagnosis/problem/treatment?


 According to National Institute on Drug Abuse individuals who seek treatment
over an extended period of time stop using drugs, decrease their criminal
activity and regain control over their life.

Question 6

 What changes do recommend for the agency or service (Needs of


agency, changes, and rights issues)? Report those to supervisor.
 Clear referral process for substance treatment options.
