• The word wireless is dictionary defined “having no wires ” . In
networking terminology , wireless is the term used to describe
any computer network where there is no physical wired
connection between sender and receiver, but rather the network
is connected by radio waves and or microwaves to maintain
communications. Wireless networking utilizes specific equipment
such as NICs and Routers in place of wires (copper or optical
fibre)

• 5G Technology
• The first pre-commercial 3G network was launched by NTT
DoCoMo in Japan on 1998, branded as FOMA. It was first
available in May 2001 as a pre-release (test) of W-CDMA
technology. The first commercial launch of 3G was also by NTT
DoCoMo in Japan on 1 October 2001.
• 3G technology refers to third generation which was introduced
in year 2000.
• Data transmission speed is from 144kbps-2Mbps.
• Makes integration of
Voice
Data
Video
• Providing Faster Communication
• Send/Receive Large Email Messages.
• High Speed Web
• More Security Video Conferencing
• 3D Gaming
• TV Streaming/ Mobile TV/ Phone Calls.
• Large Capacities and Broadband Capabilities
• 11 sec – 1.5 min. time to download a 3 min Mp3 song
• The presence of a wide radio bandwidth means that users are able
to experience faster data transmission speeds and issues pertaining
to overcrowding are minimized.
• One of a kind multimedia experience. This means that more people
are able to easily access music, pictures and videos with ease as well
as share them. Improved messaging and Bluetooth capabilities are
able to support this unlike in 2G devices.
• Business, entertainment and socializing have all been escalated to a
new level. With ample video conferencing support meetings can be
held without having to be in the same geographical location. Various
entertainment spots and gadgets can be accessed via 3G internet for
an unforgettable experience!
• It is now possible to operate more cell phones within a network than
ever before. Consequently, users are able to access a variety of
services within a network
• Higher bandwidth enables a range of new applications.

• 3G Network as the back-up (or) even primary Internet access
method for SMB companies.
• High Prices to help cover the initial demand and fixed cost.
• Needs more towers the high density requires towers to be closer
together.
• Availability to consumers.
• One of the biggest disadvantages is that is would be a big risk
for entrepreneurs to take because the cost are high, and the
start slow.
• As of December 2011, there are no 4G networks that fulfil the
International Telecommunication Unions criteria of being able to
achieve 1Gbps while stationary.

4G  4G is not one defined technology or
standard, but rather a collection of
3G technologies and protocols aimed at
creating2G fully packet-switched
2G networks optimized for data.
1G  •4G networks are projected to
provide speeds of 100 Mbps while
moving and 11G Gbps while
stationary. •Lower cost than previous
generations. •OFDM used instead of
CDMA. 0G
• Also known as Mobile Broadband everywhere.

Anywhere, Anytime with Anyone
Global Mobility Support
Integrated Wireless Solution
Customized Personal Service
• According to 4G Mobile Forum, in 2008 over $400 billion
would be invested in 4G mobile projects.
• Support for multimedia services like teleconferencing and wireless
internet.
• Wider bandwidths and higher bit rates.
• Entirely packet-switched network.
• Global mobility and service portability.
• Support for previous wireless technologies.
• High internet speed.
• tight network security.
• Better response time. 10 times better than 3G.
• Less time to build 4G because it uses the same tower and fiber cable
as 3G- they only have to upgrade the tower with 4G.
• Provide high flexibility as compared to already existing technologies
• 4G Car : With the hype of 3G wireless in the rear view mirror,
but the reality of truly mobile broadband data seemingly too
far in the future to be visible yet on the information super
highway, it may seem premature to offer a test drive 4G. But
the good news is, 4G is finally coming to a showroom near you
• public safety.
• Sensors in public vehicle.
• Cameras in traffic light .
• First responder route selection.
• Traffic control during disasters.
• In 4G network there will be requirement to design a single user
terminal that can operate in different wireless networks and
overcome the design difficulty such as restrictions on the size of
the device and cost and power utilization. The choice of most
appropriate service at a specific place and time and the choice
is making according to the consumer. Integrated IP based
system provides quality of service and end to end delivery
• Battery uses is more
• Hard to implement
• Need complicated hardware
• Expensive equipment required to implement next generation
network
• Lack of coverage as it is still a new service.
• Wireless mobile communications systems are uniquely identified
by "generation designations. Introduced in the early 1980s, first
generation (1G) systems were marked by analog frequency
modulation and used primarily for voice communications. •
Second generation (2G) wireless communications systems, which
made their appearance in the late 1980s, were also used
mainly for voice transmission and reception The wireless system
in widespread use today goes by the name of in 2.5G-an "
between " service that serves as a stepping stone to 3G.
Whereby 2G communications is generally associated with
Global System for Mobile (GSM) service, 2.5G is usually
identified as being "fueled " by General Packet Radio Services
(GPRS) along with GSM
• In 3G systems, making their appearance in late 2002 and in
2003, are designed for voice and paging services, as well as
interactive media use such as teleconferencing, Internet access,
and other services. The problem with 3G wireless systems is
bandwidth- these systems provide only WAN coverage ranging
from 144 kbps (for vehicle mobility applications) to 2 Mbps (for
indoor static applications). Segue to 4G, the "next dimension "
of wireless communication. • The 4G wireless uses Orthogonal
Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Ultra Wide Radio
Band (UWB), and Millimeter wireless and smart antenna. Data
rate of 20mbps is employed. Mobile speed will be up to
200km/hr. Frequency band is 2 •- 8 GHz. it gives the ability for
world wide roaming to access cell anywhere.
• 3g services will add invaluable dimension for the integral part of the
modern world.
• In the near future, mobility will not be considered as an add- on: it
will become a fundamental aspect.
• Development of 3g network will continue and pick up pace in the
near future.
• True 4G services could come only after 2015.
• 4G will open door to various mobile applications.
• Opinions on when 4G will be available, might be differ.
• 4G‘s predecessor,3G wireless is still taking off.
• Some analyst agree that there is no ―Killer App ― for 4G today
• 5G simply stands for fifth generation and refers to the next and
newest mobile wireless standard based on the IEEE 802.11ac
standard of broadband technology, although a formal
standard for 5G is yet to be set.
• According to the Next Generation Mobile Network's 5G white
paper, 5G connections must be based on 'user experience,
system performance, enhanced services, business models and
management & operations'.
Although the standards bodies have not yet defined the
parameters needed to meet a 5G performance level yet
Other organizations have set their own aims, that may
eventually influence the final specifications. Typical parameters
for a 5G standard may include:
These are some of the ideas being put forwards for a 5G
standard, but they are not accepted by any official bodies yet.
SUGGESTED 5G WIRELESS PERFORMANCE
PARAMETER SUGGESTED PERFORMANCE
Network capacity 10 000 times capacity of current
network
Peak data rate 10 Gbps
Cell edge data rate 100 Mbps
Latency < 1 ms
 5G will be significantly faster than 4G, allowing for higher productivity
across all capable devices with a theoretical download speed of 10,000
Mbps. Plus, with greater bandwidth comes faster download speeds and the
ability to run more complex mobile internet apps.

 5G will cost more to implement and while the newest mobile phones will
probably have it integrated, other handsets could be deemed out of date.
