Pre-configuration files
 Authentication file
 The RTN.CER file stores the administrator-level
user names and MD5/SHA256/PBKDF2-encrypted
passwords of these users.
 Configuration script
 The usbcfg.cmd stores the NE basic configuration
data and service configuration data.
Generating Configuration Script File
 Flow chart
Create pre-
configuration files
Convert pre-configuration
files into scrip file.
Generate the
scrip file
Create pre-configuration files(1)
 Open the pre-configuration sample files.
 There are two pre-configuration samples:
NEBasic&DCN Sample.xls is necessary
Ethernet Service Sampl.xls is optional
 Configure the NE basic parameters.
 Open the 1-NEBasic&DCN Sample.xls. Select NE Basic Info
sheet and configure the NE Basic parameters according to the
network planning.
Create pre-configuration files (3)
 Configure slots and boards parameters
 Select Board Info sheet > click Generate Board Info From
Sheet[NE BasicInfo] and configure the Boards for each NE
and slot.
 Configure MW Link parameters
 Select Link Info (Non-XPIC) sheet > click Generate Link Info
From [Board Info] and configure the Link parameters for each
NE and slot.
 Configure MW Link parameters(cont.)
 Step3(cont.): Configure the Link parameters for IF board.
 Configure DCN parameters (Optional)
 Select DCN sheet and fill in the parameters according to the
network planning.

 Start Pre-configuration Tool
 Open the Pre-configuration Tool program by clicking
ConvertorEx.exe

 Import pre-configuration excel file into Convert tool
 Click choose excel file path Icon. Click Browse button to choose pre-
configuration excel templates and click Import.

 Perform convertor tool to generate pre-configuration script
 Choose NEs and click Export scripts Icon > Choose USB in the
Application Scene tab, and click Export button to Generate Scripts.
Generate Authentication file
 Perform Pre-configuration Tool to generate Authentication file
 Click Generate Certificate icon and specify User Name, Password

and Algorithm values. Click Browse to select the Output Path for
the authentication file.

Copy pre-configuration file to USB
flash drive
 USB flash drive must meet the following requirements:
 Capacity: not less than 1 GB.
 Model: 4 GB Netac U208 is recommended.
 Format: FAT32
 Others: The USB flash drive must not have additional functions
(include but not limited to: encryption, antivirus, automatic guide,
and smart phone.
Copy pre-configuration file to USB
flash drive (cont.)
 Copy Authentication file & Script file to the root
directory of USB flash drive.
On site configuration
 After the USB flash drive is prepared, insert the USB flash
drive into the USB port to perform the NE initialization.

Blinking yellow at a 300 ms The data in the USB flash drive is Wait for the end of commissioning.

Steady green (more than 10s) The commissioning succeeds. Plug out the USB flash drive to end the
commissioning.
Steady red (more than 10s) The commissioning fails. Plug out the USB flash drive to perform
troubleshooting.
Blinking red at a 300 ms interval Hardware fault occurs and USB Plug out the USB flash drive to perform
flash drive initiating fails. troubleshooting.
Off (less than 5 minutes) The NE is restarting. Wait for the end of commissioning.
Off (more than 5 minutes) Hardware fault occurs and the USB Plug out the USB flash drive to perform
flash drive cannot be detected. troubleshooting.
