THERE ARE MORE WAYS TO SAY ONE THING


WHAT IS A PRONOUN?

 A pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun or


another pronoun. They are also known as Replacing
words.
 Like a noun, a pronoun can refer to a person, place,
thing, or idea.
 The noun for which a pronoun stand for is called its
antecedent. For Example:

Riya was happy. She got a new toy.

The pen is old. It is not working.


ACTIVITY

 Go through this extract from ‘Mix up at Birth’ and


find out the pronouns and nouns.(Antecedents), for
which they stand for.

 The next day Mr.Narayan Masuvekar came again to


see me in the hospital. He picked up the baby lying in
the crib next to my mother. To his utter horror he
discovered that the baby did not have the hole on his
left earlobe.
