Abstract :
 The student need to check the notice board every time to know about
their internal marks. Sometimes the students come from the longer
distances jus to know their internal marks but if the marks have not
displayed in the board then it will be a wastage of student\s time.
 So for avoiding all these problems related with internal marks display
we have introduced a new and advanced concept called Embedded
and SMS based attendance and IA marks monitoring in which Instead
of seeing IA marks on the notice board, it is possible to check our
marks by sitting in the home itself.
 Here if any student wants to know about the internal marks at any time
all he wants do is sending a message containing his or her register
number to a office number containing the database of student internal
marks.
 Along with that students attendance can be monitored with the
involvement of RFID technology where an unique card will be given for
each student and upon swiping the which his or her attendance can be
registered and sms is sent to both college management and parents as
well.
Introduction :

 Basically this project deals with the smart attendance monitoring

where the attendance, Internal assessment marks, Students
behavior of each student will be taken digitally and same will be
updated in the college database and same can be retrieved by the
parents and college management anytime they want.
 Also the college admin can be able display any data on to the
notice board from anywhere simultaneously the same data will be
sent to the parents mobile phones so that the students and parents
get know about the recent updates without coming to the college
itself.
 Students can come to know about the facilities the Govt. provided
to the college by simply sending the request the server. By simply
messaging the bank challan or receipt number the students can
give confirmation to the college regarding the Exam fees payment.
Hardware and the Software
Requirements

Hardware :
 Microprocessor ARM7 LPC2148
 LCD - 16 x 2
 Rs232 - MAX232
 GSM Modem [RS232 based]
 7812/ 7805 voltage regulators for power supply
 Power supply circuit
 RFID Reader
 RFID cards
 LM317
Software :
 Embedded c
 Keil-c compiler
 Flash magic burner software
 Using computer will update the IA marks using RS-232 cable through
microcontroller.
 GSM circuit connected to the microcontroller chip, if any student send
the message ,GSM circuit receive message and give it to the
microcontroller, then microcontroller sends the appropriate result using
GSM.
 In the same way attendance can be monitored reading the data from
RFID Reader whenever the student swipes the card.
MICROCONTROLLER –
ARM7 LPC 2148
 The LPC2141/42/44/46/48 microcontrollers are based on a 16-
bit/32-bit ARM7TDMI-S CPU with real-time emulation and
embedded trace support, that combine microcontroller with
embedded high speed flash memory ranging from 32 kb to 512
kb.
 A 128-bit wide memory interface and a unique accelerator
architecture enable 32-bit code execution at the maximum clock
rate.
 Due to their tiny size and low power consumption,
LPC2141/42/44/46/48 are ideal for applications where
miniaturization is a key requirement, such as access control and
point-of-sale.
 Serial communications interfaces ranging from a USB 2.0 Full-
speed device, multiple UARTs, SPI, SSP to I2C-bus and on-chip
SRAM of 8 kb up to 40 kb, make these devices very well suited
for communication gateways.
GSM module :
 The GSM net used by cell phones provides a low cost, long range,
wireless communication channel for applications that need connectivity
rather than high data rates.
 It is used to send the SMS to mobile phone. Send the attendance
details of the students to the students, parents and college cell phone.
RFID module :
 Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless use of
electromagnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of
automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects.
 The tags contain electronically stored information.
 Some tags are powered by electromagnetic induction from magnetic
fields produced near the reader.
 Some types collect energy from the interrogating radio waves and act
as a passive transponder. Other types have a local power source such
as a battery and may operate at hundreds of meters from the reader.
 When ever the students swipes his smart card his attendance will b
marked and is stored in the data server.
Advantages :
 Low cost and Easy of operation.
 Saves students and Staffs time.
 Accurate working.
 Effectively maintains the attendance.
 Parents can get the details like IA marks, Attendance, Behaviors
regarding their children anytime from anywhere.
 College admin can display any data on the notice board from any
where.
 Students and parents will be updated with Holidays, meetings and
any Functions data via sms.
 NOC can be issued by library management team.
 Students will come to know about any changes in the college
timing or change of time table in the exams instantly via sms.
 College admin will come to know about the fees payment
acknowledgement from the students
 Easy maintenance.
Applications :
 In colleges
 Mobile companies
 To check the election result.
 In the ration Cards
