Employed are persons who are 15 years old

Also included are:

because of temporary illness/injury, vacation or other leave
of absence, bad weather or strike/labor dispute or other
reasons. Likewise, persons who are expected to report for
work or to start operation of a farm or business enterprise
within two weeks from the date of the enumerator’s visit are
considered employed (future starts).

 In July 2017, the total population 15 years old and over
was estimated at 70.2 million wherein the number of
persons who were in the labor force was reported at
42.5 million. This placed the labor force participation
rate (LFPR) at 60.6 percent, which means that six in
ten of the population aged 15 years and over were
either employed or unemployed.
 Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the
highest reported LFPR with 64.5 percent while the
lowest LFPR reported was in Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) at 46.5 percent
 The total number of employed persons was
estimated at 40.2 million. The employment rate
reported or the proportion of employed persons to
total labor force was 94.4 percent.
 Five of the 17 regions, namely: Ilocos Region
(91.8%), NCR (92.1%), Central Luzon (92.9%),
CALABARZON (93.0%) and Northern
Mindanao (94.3%) registered an employment
rate lower than the national figure.
