1. Background

 Mathematics is a very important lesson for everyone

especially for the students, because mathematics has
an important role for the progress of human
civilization.
 Someone will get used to thinking in a systematic,
scientific, logic, critical, and can increase the
creativity when studying mathematics.
 The subjects of mathematics has not become a
popular subject.
 Students have not been able to apply the
mathematical sciences they can to solve the
problems they encounter in everyday life.
 The average mathematics achievement of
Indonesian students is still low both nationally
and internationally.
 One of the factors causing low mathematics
achievement is the method used by teachers
not yet appropriate in learning.
FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM

Is it necessary to
develop a field trip
model to support
students'
mathematical literacy?
THEORITICAL REVIEW

A. Mathematical Literacy
The ability to identify and understand the role
played by mathematics in the real world, to
make a judgment established and to use and
engage with mathematics in ways that meet the
needs of an individual's life as something
constructive, caring, and real in public life
(OECD).
B. Field Trip
A field trip as an experience of students
outside the classroom in an interactive site
designed for learning purposes. (Tal and
Morag)
C. Field Trip Model to Support Understanding of
Mathematical
 Based on the theory of meaning from Aussbel and the
theory of practice and drill of Thorndike, field trips and
mathematical literacy are expected to complement each
other.

 Meaningful learning will make the subject matter to be

interesting, rewarding and challenging, and learning drill
and practice will make students familiar to the application
of the concept that the concepts that will be understood
and properly embedded in the minds of students.
Experimental Method

 This research uses qualitative descriptive

approach method used to get all information
about the object studied in the form of
observation and interview.

 The study was conducted in 10 primary schools

in Jakarta and Depok.
Research Result
1. From interviews with some students obtained the
positive response given to the activities undertaken
fieldtrip.

2. Positive responses were given the students may be

basis that the possible field trip will be able to
support students' mathematical literacy. They are
expected to learn math in a fun and meaningful in
field trips as the integration of classroom learning. It
should be seen teachers as an effective method to
apply the lessons learned in the real world.
While I have found problems in the field, among others:
1. There is a discrepancy between the definition of a field trip to study
the implementation of the field trip.

2. There is no charge to the student after the field trip activities that
could be accounted for in the classroom.

3. In the field field trip the teacher also has not become a good
facilitator, as more fully submit to guide services

See the problems above if it were important for the future according to
the authors developed model existing field trip designed to be
attractive and the elaboration of the theory of the field trip it self
