WHAT IS
ROUTER?
Model Name
ROUTER/WI-FI/ WIRELESS ACCESS POINT/REPEATER
Manufacturer
CONFIGURATION

A router, also known as routing unit, is a networking device that forwards data
packets between computer networks. ... A data packet is typically forwarded from
one router to another router through the networks that constitute an internetwork
until it reaches its destination node.

ACTIVITY 1

Why router is used in networking?

Ans. A router is an electronic device and/or software that connects at least two networks and forwards
packets among them according to the information in the packet headers and routing tables. Routers are
fundamental to the operation of the Internet and other complex networks (such as enterprise-wide networks).
How router is working?
Ans. Routing is the process of forwarding IP packets from one network to another. Arouter is a device that joins
networks together and routes traffic between them. Arouter will have at least two network cards (NICs), one
physically connected to one network and the other physically connected to another network
What is a router for the Internet?
Ans. A router is connected to at least two networks, commonly two LANs or WANs or a LAN and its ISP's
network. Routers are located at gateways, the places where two or more networks connect, and are the
critical device that keeps data flowing between networks and keeps the networks connected to the Internet.
What is meant by routing in computer networks?
Model Name
Ans. Routing Definition. Routing is the process of moving packets across a networkfrom one host to a another.
It is usually performed by dedicated devices calledrouters. Packets are the fundamental unit of information
transport in all modern computer networks, and increasingly in other communications networks as well.
What is a modem for WIFI?
Ans. A wireless modem is a device that is able to connect to a wireless network as provided by an ISP. When
you connect your computer to a wireless modem, you can now have access to internet when a signal from
your ISP is present. ... Wifi routers can connect two LANS or WANs, LAN and WAN, or LAN and the internet
