CSI 5200
The CSI 5200 Machinery Health Oil Analyzer is a multi-
functional analyzer that is uniquely capable of
detecting most lubricant-related problems in pumps,
compressors, turbines, engines, and process
machinery. The CSI 5200 allows to test oils and
lubricants onsite, eliminating the need to send
samples to an offsite lab. This time-saving method
delivers results efficiently and effectively. The CSI 5200
allows for onsite testing of machinery oils and lubricants.
CSI 5200 Overview

The multiple analytical features of the 5200 meet many of the demanding requirements of
the industry. These requirements are:

 Automatic wear debris analysis to measure mechanical failures in progress

 Analytical wear debris analysis to identify severity and root cause
 Particle counting towards achieving target cleanliness and contamination control
 Measurement of oil chemistry to detect oxidation and the use of the wrong oil
CSI 5200 Overview
The CSI 5200 provides:

 Accurate onsite analysis of oil health information

 Early indication of machine wear and fatigue
 Verification of correct oil usage through oil supply
screenings
 Comprehensive coverage of chemistry
contamination and wear eliminates the need for
multiple analyzers and constant
 On-site testing
 Save steps for Wear Debris Analysis with integrated
method of patch preparation
 Covered by ASTM Standard Practice

Test Methods
The CSI 5200 analysis profile is divided into three tests:

 Test 1 is a precise measure of dielectric constant (or “permitivity”). This is a

measure of oil degradation similar to TAN, TBN or oxidation.

 Test 2 is a time-resolved dielectric measurement with switching electromagnetic

fields. This is a measure of the settling characteristics of contaminants and wear
debris. This test reports the ferrous index, contaminant index, large ferrous and
non-ferrous indications and estimated water content.

 Test 3 is an advanced design laser particle counter that measures particle counts
in eight independent size ranges. These data are also reported as ISO and NAS
codes.
 * TAN- Total Acid Number * TBN- Total Base Number
