ANTHROPOLOGY
• The scientific study of the origin and behavior of
man, including the development of societies and
cultures.

• Anthropology is the study of humanity.


Anthropology's main concerns are the ancestors of
the modern human. American anthropology is
divided into four fields: cultural anthropology,
archaeology, linguistic anthropology and biological
anthropology. The purpose of anthropology is to
better understand the modern person through
education of the past.

• 1. It transcends the interest of any
particular culture or society .
• 2. It studies their differences and
similarities.
• 3. It tries to explain fundamental
questions that usually trouble mankind
like the origin of inequality , racism,
sexism and the significance of mankind’s
animal heritage.

in Human History

interaction makes the study of humanity vital
for etiquette and understanding of other
cultures and peoples.

• Knowledge of Ourselves- In this way, we can


understand why people formed societies,
prayed to certain religious deities and ate
certain foods. Each of these was a building
block to modern culture

anthropology we are able to study and
reflect on humankind's heritage.

Difference Between
Anthropology & History

• Specifically, anthropology is the study of


human beings and their behavior. History
has a broader definition and focuses on
the study of the human past. In essence,
while anthropology focuses more
specifically on human behavior, history is
the study of human civilizations.
