Introduction:
• The project “Smart Library” is developed in ASP.NET, With this system the Librarian
can be manage/keep the records of books, of students of the college, and perform some
basic operation like adding new book, new student; updating the record of students and
books; facilities of issue, return & demand books, trace and search of books quickly
etc.

• Using this web application user can issuing books online and can look for the book
either it is available in library or not.

• In addition, report design is also included in Smart Library. The Librarian is able to
generate different kinds of reports like lists of students registered, list of books, list of
authors, publication, and edition of the available books in the library, list of issue,
return and demands of books and students penalty reports, if they don’t return on time.

• All these operations are able to help librarian to manage the library with more
convenience and in a more efficient way as compared to library systems which are not
computerized.
Objective
• The main objective of the Library Management system is discipline of the planning,
organizing and managing the library tasks.

• Our project aims at making the task of library easy.

• Library Management is entering the records of new book and retrieving the details of
book available in the library.

• We can issue book to the registered student and maintain their records and can also
checks how many book are issued and stock available in the library.

• In the project we can maintain the penalty records of student who return the issued
book after the due date.

• Librarian can also see the record of books which are currently not available in the
library but demanded by the students.
Scope
We can consider much future scope to this application. The following are some of there:
• Online use of the library can be good feature for the Library Management system.
• Manually updating the library system into an android based application so that
user can know the details of the books available and maximum limit on
borrowing from their computer and also through their phones.
• Advanced penalty payment system can be added.
• Inventory system can be used to maintain the books of the library.
• Also user can provide feedback for adding some new books to the library.
PURPOSE
1. It provides "better and efficient" service to members.

2. Reduce the workload of librarian.

3. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book.

4. Provide facility for proper monitoring reduce paper work and provide data security.

5. All details will be available on a click for both user and librarian.

The users of the system are:
• Librarian
• Students

• The users should have sufficient knowledge of computers & of English

language, as the user interface will be provided in English.
• The members should be either the student or faculty of the college,
where this s/w will be implemented.
 Safety & Security Requirements
• The database may get crashed at any certain time due to virus or operating system
failure. Therefore, it is required to take the database backup.
• We are going to develop a secured database for the university. There are different
categories of users namely teaching staff, administrator, students etc. Depending
upon the category of user the access rights are decided. It means if the user is an
administrator then he can be able to modify the data, delete, append etc.
• All the other users other than administrator only have the rights to retrieve the
information about database.
