 The Ganges canal
Om Bridge

 Its located in Haridwar.


 It is made of length of 75m and
arch radius of 21m and span of 28m.
 Om shape displays glimpses of spirituality.
Pashulok barrage:

 Its located on Ganga near Rishikesh.


 The main purpose of the barrage is to divert water to canal which
feeds water to chilla powerplant.
 The catchment area is 21,400 km² and its design for floods of 13200
m3/s.
 Its 312m long and barrage having 15 bays of 18 meters each and
63m long head regulator having 5 bays in 11m each.
Pashulok barrage:
Chilla Power House:

 Its also called as Garhwal Rishikesh Chilla Hydroelectric Project.


 The power channel runs along left bank of river ganga in a very
difficult hilly terrain. The bed width of channel is 12.5m and water
depth 9m.
 The channel is the biggest power in the country with a capacity of
20,000 cusecs.
 The chilla power house has 4 units of 36MW (36*4=144MW).
 The total project cost estimation is about 97 crores.

Tehri Dam:

 A preliminary investigation for the Tehri Dam Project was completed


in 1961 and its design was completed in 1972 with a 600 MW
capacity.
 Its planned in 3 stages: 1- Tehri dam (1000MW)
2- Koteshwar Dam (400MW)
3- Tehri pump house (1000MW)
o It totally produces 2400MW.
o Total cost for the project is about 2 million$.
o It also irrigates 2.7 lakh hectares.

Shiv Dhanush Bridge:

 "Shiv Dhanush" Bridge constructed at Har Ki Pauri Haridwar


has a total length of 135 m and a span of 90 m.
 It is designed by Mr . Srinivas Kutumbale, this project was undertaken
and completed by 32 days

 LENGTH OF BRIDGE 1 - 182.65m
 LENGTH OF BRIDGE 2 - 228.26m
 LENGTH OF BRIDGE 3 -145.22m
 CC SPAN - 30.48m
 It is designed by Mr . Srinivas Kutumbale, this project was undertaken and
completed by 32 days.
The Great Ganga Canal:

 When the Ganga canal first opened in 1854 it was the largest and
the costliest man-made
waterway in the world.
 It built to provide irrigation between the Ganges and Yamuna rivers
in northern india.
 It stretches more than 898 miles south from Haridwar.
 its main channel was 348 miles (560 km) long, its branches 306 miles
(492 km) long.

o in 1840 Proby Thomas cautley, the
English engineer proposed Ganges
canal.
o he himself spent around six months
walking and riding through the area
taking each measurement.
CONCLUSION

 The project work allotted by the department for preparing


presentation on several civil structures helped as we had to
research and it proved to be great opportunity to get to the depth
of the structures we usually look over in daily life
 We were privileged to have a study tour organized by Mr. N K
Yadav Sir to Om Bridge, Pashulok Barrage and Chilla Power Plant.
