Transportation Planning Interface


 The Transportation Planning Interface (TPI) supports transportation planning
for bulk material shipments and optimization of bulk material shipments
 TPI supports data transfer from the R/3 system to the external TPS
– Location master data
– Orders
– Status values for planned shipments
 TPI supports data transfer from the external TPS to the R/3 system
– Transfer of planned shipments that are based on orders from the R/3 system
– Transfer of planned shipments that are based on orders from the external TPS
 The R/3 system and the external TPS exchange error logs
 ALE, IDocs and RFCs are used to exchange data

Transportation Planning Interface: Master data distribution


 The master data for transportation planning has to be identical in the R/3
System and in the external TPS
 Location, driver, vehicle, transport unit, vehicle are relevant master data for
distribution
 Distribution to external TPS is done through
– Transfer orders by means of message control
– Transfer orders using program ROIKPRTP
– Automatically transfer orders at specific times using program ROIKPRTP
– Automatic distribution with an activated change pointer

Transportation Planning Interface: Master data distribution

 Distribution of planned shipments to R/3


– TPI transfers shipment documents that were formatted by external TPS using
message type OILSH1 and IDoc type OILSHI01
– In case of replenishment orders, sales orders and deliveries are created
– In case of call-in orders from the R/3 System, the delivery is planned
– In the R/3 System, the inbound data is formatted by function module
IDOC_INPUT_OILSH2 and is further processed
– Shipment comparer processes cyclic changes made to shipments by external
transportation planning systems (TPS), which do not have their own change
history.
