communication. This media includes any form of printed
journals or newspapers, magazines, monthlies weeklies, etc.

INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
EVOLUTION OF NEWSPAPER
INDUSTRY ANALYSIS:
To analyze any industry one must consider porter’s five force model.
The Five force model of this industry is as follow.

Supplier

New  Industry Subsitute

Entrances

Buyer
New entrances:
 In the print media, entry barriers are high since it is very capital-
intensive. Besides capital intensive, government policies and procedures
are also kind of major barriers.

Bargaining power of suppliers

 In the print media, it is high for newsprint suppliers because there are
many suppliers present in the market. When suppliers are high, buyers
will be low.

Bargaining power of customers

 Relatively high as customers have the power to switch over to another
newspaper when they face any issues or any other circumstances like
hike in the price of newspaper etc,.

Competition
High in print media, especially in Hindi dailies. The print sector includes
listed entities like Jagran Prakashan and HT Media. Regional print media
too is seeing increasing competition.

Substitute:
The prime source of income in print media is Advertisements. Google and
yahoo are giving strong competition to entire print media pulling major
chunk of advertisements towards online media. Newspapers are getting
ineffective towards internet services as they are offering large target
customer base as against the same price of newspapers and other print
media sources.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

 Ziming Liu

With an increasing amount of time spent reading electronic documents,

a screen‐based reading behavior is emerging. The screen ‐based reading
behavior is characterized by more time spent on browsing and
scanning, keyword spotting, one‐time reading, non ‐linear reading, and
reading more selectively, while less time is spent on in ‐depth reading,
and concentrated reading. Decreasing sustained attention is also noted.
Annotating and highlighting while reading is a common activity in the
printed environment. However, this “traditional” pattern has not yet
migrated to the digital environment when people read electronic
documents.

Automated print quality analysis systems are evolving to new levels of

functionality, integration, and productivity and are becoming critical to
the advancement of digital printing technology. As tools for
communication within the industry, these systems can help to achieve a
needed consensus on print quality standards and the procedures for
quantifying them. In this paper we will describe in some detail the
design of an automated print quality analysis system, discussing our
design choices and the rationale behind them. The system analyzes
prints on any media produced by any printing technology. To
demonstrate a representative application of the system, we will present
results of a case study in which automated print quality analysis was
applied to inkjet printing. User requirements and key criteria for
evaluating a system of this kind will also be discussed.
