 WHAT IS OCTROI ?

Octroi :- Octroi means municipal customs duty

 The tax collected by the municipal corporation
From the public expenditure.
 The tax is received on behalf of {raw material}goods
enter into the boundary of city on that the octroi tax is
collected from the importer by municipal corporation
 The tax is charged by different rates
 This Octroi tax is charged by every municipal
corporation in India{as per the government policy}

 PROCEDURE FOR STAMPING
OCTROI
 The Importer shall prepare and
present the Import Octroi Bill
 after the payment of Octroi
 with the documents of import to the
Octroi Inspector entrusted with the
stamping work
 with the documents of import to the Octroi
Inspector entrusted with the stamping work

Inspector entrusted with the stamping work
 In the event of any other Packages not
belonging to the importer being stamped due
to misdirection or incorrect Identification by
the importer he shall be required to pay
additional stamping fee
 After the completion of stamping work the
Octroi Inspector shall endorse on both the
copies of the Octroi Import Bill the results of
the stamping work carried out by him and
shall obtain the signature of the importer 5
 on the reverse of the tally sheet In token of
stamping work having been carried out as
required by the said importer. The original
Octroi bill shall thereafter be delivered to the
importer under acknowledgement and the
duplicate shall be forwarded to the Deputy
Assessor and Collector (Octroi).

As study of effect of octroi was to be made,
harmony data was collected from related field-
survey of 100+ outlets. All of them were asked
personally and the tool used was schedule
questionnaire prepared.
Also informal session with octroi
officers,transporters and shopkeepers were
held to collect the information about the
regularity,transparency,posting system. 13

Secondary Data was also used for study.
It was collected from distributors to get
information of outlets covered and corporation’s
policies. Secondary Data was collected from
Publications, newspaper and from website.

 QUTIONNAIRE
Tools used for data collection were Scheduled
questionnaire. The questionnaire was prepared with
the help and guidance of octroi officers of
corporation.

 OBSERVATIVE STUDY
The preferred observation was related to
regularity,transparency,posting system and other
services of corporation. Whereas random samples

According to the analysis,Octroi is essential because
 t gives the direct cash fund to govt.by using which govt.make
plans for development of city.
 when any goods/raw material enter in to the city it has been
passed by check post of Octroi means The goods /raw material
Has been Check by the post for Safety of the City.
 Octroi is the major revenue for the govt through which govt. can
do the social expenditure . for people.
 Octroi Limits for Consumption use ,or sale there in & the below
mentioned value and weight Quantity of the goods is true &
correct is According to the original invoice.
