The 21st century required skills for effective workforce
WHY FVCS & FVS? If we want to develop quality individuals or workforce, we have to
start with their fundamental skills that are required in the 21st century education and working
environment. One of them is communication skills which will support the top 3 major thinking
processes. They are 1. complex problem solving, 2. critical thinking and 3. creativity. (refer World
Economic Forum: The 10 skills you need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution).
But not many realised that the main communication skills that need to acquire is Freehand
Visual Communication Skills (FVCS). Why? The skills (freehand + visualization + communication
skills) help to overview or simplify the thinking process by freehand visualizing everything on a
piece of paper. The FVCS also help to strengthen the ability of thinking skills (HOTS). ‘CREATE’ is
the highest thinking process which require freehand visualization skills (drawing) to explain
complex ideas. Of course, without drawing and FVS, we cannot ‘CREATE’.
Not many realised, visual has become the most important communication skills in the 21st
century education and working environment. It is also the major skills to ‘CREATION’. We have
been taught only on 'reading' visual not 'communicate' using visual. Do individuals or
organization really need to acquire the FVCS and FVS? Many people can think effectively about
interesting and unique ideas... but not many can effectively communicate their ideas to the
focus group because they do not have the ability to freehand + visualize + communicate those
ideas effectively. YES… because we want them to be more creative, innovative and
dynamic. We want them to be able to ‘CREATE something’ rather than ‘COPY something’.
Surely the productivity of individuals and organization will increase when they are able to
‘CREATE’ many interesting and innovative ideas.

Are we prepared
for Freehand
Visualization Skills
(FVS)?
The answer is no....
Based on our training programs to many organizations and
institutions , we noticed that our participants were lacking on
the FVS and FVCS. 90% from the participants were not
aware on these skills. Refer to samples below:
Freehand Visualization Skills (FVS) is one of the main
components of FVCS.
Participants were asked to freehand visualize ‘a sail boat’ and
‘a war tank’. They have to imagine and sketch the idea on a
piece of paper. before before
