Llandaff Wales in 1961
• His parents were Sofie
and Harald
• When he was young he
absolutely loved to
read!
Inspiration
 Dahl loved his parents
and based a lot of his
characters on his family
and friends
 Mr. Dahl was inspired by
his parents, a diary
writer (dad) and
storyteller (mom).
School

 From ages 7-9, Roald Dahl


went to Llandaff Cathedral
School
 After school Dahl always
stopped by the sweet shop
 His favorite candies were

started to work as a salesman for
Dares Salaam
When he was 23 he joined the war
as a pilot officer for the Royal Air
Force in Nairobi, Kenya
He wrote about his journeys in his
auto-biography Going Solo

When He Started Writing
Dahl’s first kids book was The Gremlins
in 1943

start until the 60’s after he had become

blood disorder known as: Myelodysplastic
anaemia
On November 23rd 1990 Roald Dahl died. He was
74
He was working until the end putting the
finishing touches on The Vicar of Nibbleswicke,
My Year, and The Roald Dahl Cook Book.
