HISTORY OF OIL
We consume 96 million
barrels of oil every day
=48 super tankers in 24
hours.
• we have other
alternative sources of
energies like wind ,
solar and electric
energies.
WILL THEY REPLACE THE NEED OF OIL?

• Oil consumption in transportation is driven by consumer
demand.
• In India, oil is dominant energy source because people all are
not ready to adopt new technologies.
• But in China, as it is expected that 1 in 4 cars are electric by
2040.
• In 2014 , the price of barrel is above $100.
• Today it is down to $60 .
• This change is due to increase in supply and decrease in demand.
• This drastic change hit the oil producers hard.
• Oil producers like shell and BP are switching to production of other
technologies.
GLOBAL PRODUCERS ABOUT OIL
DEMAND:
• CEO of Shell , Ben Van Beurden said that his next car will be electric.
The next thing he will buy is a car that doesn't depend on either oil or
gas to run.

• Bob Dudley ,CEO of BP says oil prices are on a fairway and he expects
oil demand to be still over Million barrels a day in 2040.
• Saudi Aramco's CEO Nasser says that oil will maintain its key role in the
global energy mix for the foreseeable future, despite the increasing growth
of renewables because the growth of world's population requires
continuing development of several types of energy sources simultaneously.
WAYS TO REDUCE OUR RELIABILITY ON OIL FOR
TRANSPORTATION:

• Use of renewable sources of energy.

• Use of mass transit systems,
• Use of bio fuels.

A NEW ERA OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY HAS
ALREADY BEGUN.”
