Abstract
The business-to-consumer aspect of electronic
commerce (e-commerce) is the most visible business use of the
World Wide Web. The primary goal of an e-commerce site is to
sell used books and services online and the project deals with
developing an e-commerce website for Online Book Sale. It
provides the user with a catalog of different books available for
purchase in the store. In order to facilitate online purchase a
shopping cart is provided to the user.
Problem Statement
The design and implement an online bookstore. In the
bookstore customer searches for his required book & purchases
them. This process requires every aspect (customer, book, money,)
Scope of the project
To provide users to purchase book online.
To add/delete user, manage their accounts.
To reduce user's searching time.
To provide great discount over purchasing.
To provide wide collection of book ranges.
To provide user friendly environment.
To provide facility of user feedback.
To provide acknowledge to the user.

Existing System
The customer needs to go directly to the merchant and
purchase the used books . Here all the transactions are done
directly. It is a time consuming job.
Disadvantage:
Offline stores are restricted by time.
They tend to charge a lot more money for their books than
online bookstores.
 Proposed System
Provides facilities to access the book system from anywhere
in the community. The customer can visit the site and purchase the
used book according to their requirements and all transactions can
be done through a common network. Many features of e-commerce
have been implemented here.
Advantages:
Online stores are cheap.
Online shopping is very convenient.
Online stores are not limited.

Technical feasibility:
HTML, CSS, JavaScript allows software development using
the language to function on any windows operating system, so the
software will run on all windows.
Economic feasibility:
All software necessary for creation of the program is available
freely to me at no extra cost. Graphics can be obtained for free from a
variety of sources, including the internet, outsourcing and self-
creation, and need extra hardware is required for the software to
perform. No budget is available or required, so the project is
economically feasible
Operational feasibility:
The expertise for the project can be obtained through the
course of the project, the resources for the project are obtainable with
effort. In the maintenance will need to be performed as the use will
have been fulfilled

User Registration
• If the user is new to the site, he/she can sign up to
register by filling an online registration form. A user
id will be generated automatically and provided to
registered user. If the user is already a registered
member of the site, he can open his account by
simply signing in. If the user wants to purchase a
particular book, he/she should have an account.
Book Details Entry
• The admin can enter the whole details about a new
books. The details include name, author , language ,
publication ,price etc. The administrator performs the
above functions. This module act as the base for
other modules.

Search Book
• User can search the book which they want to buy and
search can done by using author and book name.
View Book
• The user will be allowed to view all the books
available in the book store. The main aim of this
module is to display the details about the stock
details in the book store. Even though a registered as
well as a new user could view the books, only the
registered one is allowed to purchase the a book from
the book store.
Add To Cart
• By adding the Shopping Cart module to the webpage
in the frontend, a customer can Add products to
the cart. Complete the checkout process defined on
the cart.

Payment
• A payment gateway is a merchant service provided by
an e-commerce application service provider that
authorizes credit card or direct payments processing.

Future Enhancement
• SMS based alert system can be added after
purchasing the book.
• Seller wise books can be maintained in the future.
• Customer can sell their old books in future.
Conclusion
Online Book store is an online web application
where the customer can purchase used books online.
Through a web browser the customers can search for a
book by its title or author, later can add to the
shopping cart and finally purchase the books.
