 Understand that residents come for different backgrounds which can


effect assessment and intervention methods.
 Ex. Resident showing hesitation due to belief that facility thinks she is “out of her
head.”
 Provide information that the resident can understand and has a right to know.

 Using empathy and understanding the perspective of another person can


help to make the other individual feel more comfortable.
Developing Goals

 Provide information that educates all relevant stakeholders to the situation.

 Discuss goals and reach an agreement on what will occur and the
potential outcomes.

 Follow up

 Ex. Resident moving from Assisted Living (AL) to Skilled Nursing (SNF)
 Agreed, two weeks of sitters and follow up on changes in behaviors
Selecting  Research and practice-informed decisions

Appropriate  Professional collaboration
