1
Objectives

• To design an energy efficient solar E-bike.

• To develop a vehicle that uses renewable energy.

• To invent environment friendly and cheap E-bike.

2
Introduction

• A solar electric bike can run on solar power as well

as battery power.

• Electricity generated by the solar panel charges the

battery.

• It provides people an easy and comfortable ride.

• It saves high fuel cost.

3
Project Overview
• It consists of a DC motor, battery, speed controller,
solar panels, solar charging circuit.
• DC motor gets power from battery and solar panel.
• Pulse Width Modulation speed controller is used to
control speed.
• The E-bike can run on both electric and manual
power.

10
Results
• The solar charging system can generate proper voltage
even in low sunlight.
• Both batteries can be charged fully in 4 hours using this
solar system.
• In flat surface the e-bike draws almost 2A of current.
• The power draw depends on the load on the e-bike and
slope of the road.

11
Conclusions

• Maximum speed of this bike is 30 km/h

• The solar E-bike is cost effective than other e-bikes

available in market.

• It can reduce the use of fossil fuels.

• It is able to reduce traffic congestion.

12
Applications

• It can be used in any cities and town.

• It can be used for both long and short drive.

• It can be used as alternative of any motor bike.

13
Scopes for Future Work
• Battery backup can be extended.
• Brush Less DC motor can be used for higher efficiency
and higher torque.
• Lithium Polymer Battery can be used.
• Speedometer can be implemented.
• Energy feeding system from the motor can be
developed.
