Steroid-induced
osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is defined as
a systemic skeletal disease
with microarchitectural
deterioration of bone and
disrupted and thin
trabeculae, which leads to
poor bone strength. A
secondary cause of
osteoporosis is shown with
sparse trabeculae and
unfilled tunneling and
resorption space.
Glucocorticoids lead to
poor bone formation
OSTEOARTROSIS

A. Normal joint covered by normal articular cartilage

B. Fragmentation & thinning of articular cartilage

C. Patchy loss of cartilage & exposing the subcondrial


bone (eburnation)

D. Extensive loss of cartilage, cystic degeneration of


underlying bone & osteophytes formation
