@UMTS / W-CDMA
@CDMA2000
@TD-CDMA / TD-SCDMA
@ Universal Mobile Telecommunications System(UMTS)
is one of the third-generation (3G) mobile
telecommunications technologies, which is also being
developed into a 4G technology.
@UMTS is the European vision of 3G.
@UMTS is an upgrade from GSM via GPRS or EDGE.
@The standardization work for UMTS is carried out by
Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
@UMTS was developed mainly for countries with GSM
networks, because these countries have agreed to free new
frequency ranges for UMTS networks.
@Because it is a new technology and in a new frequency
band, whole new radio access network has to be build.
@The advantage is that new frequency range gives plenty
of new capacity for operators.
@2.048 Mb/s for pico cell application.
@384 Kb/s for micro and small macro cells.
@144 Kb/s and 64Kb/s for large macro cells.
@14.4Kb/s for continuous low speed applications in very
large cells.
@12.2 Kb/s for speech.
@9.6 Kb/s for globally(satellite).
@Oideo and Music compression will be done in
Application level.
@3G phone will have programs that records and displays
video and music.
@These program have built-in data compression features.
@For image and video there are several standards
including JPEG, MPEG, Microsoft media player etc.
available.
@§igh Speed
@Packet Transmission
@Consistent Service and Coverage
@UMTS Spectrum
@ CDMA is a family of 3G mobile technology standards,
which use CDMA channel access, to send voice, data,
and signaling data between mobile phones and cell
sites.
@ The set of standards includes:
CDMA2000 1x
CDMA2000 EO-DO
CDMA2000 EO-DO Rev. 0
CDMA2000 EO-DO Rev. A
CDMA2000 EO-DO Rev. B
@ CDMA2000 1X can nearly triple the voice capacity of
cdmaOne networks.

@ It delivers peak packet data speeds of 153 kbps.

@CDMA2000 EO-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) is a
data centric technology that allows operators to offer
advanced data services.

@CDMA2000 EO-DO Rev. 0:

It delivers up to 2.4 Mbps data speed.
It supports the most advanced data applications, such
as MP3 transfers and video conferencing, TO
broadcasts, video and audio downloads.
@CDMA2000 1xEO-DO Revision A (Rev A):
It delivers peak data speeds of 3.1 Mbps on the
downlink and 1.8 Mbps on the uplink and
incorporates quality of service (QoS) controls to
manage latency on the network.
With Rev A, operators will be able to introduce
advanced multimedia services, including voice, data
and broadcast over all-IP networks.
@CDMA2000 EO-DO Rev. B:
It will deliver peak rates of 73.5 Mbps in the forward
link and 27 Mbps in the reverse link.

In addition to supporting mobile broadband data the

lower latency characteristics of Rev B will improve
the performance of delay-sensitive applications such
push-to-talk over cellular, video telephony, concurrent
voice and multimedia, and massive multiplayer online
gaming.
@eading performance.
@Efficient use of spectrum.
@Support for advanced mobile services.
@Devices selection.
@Seamless evolution path.
@Flexibility.
