INTRODUCTION
• Purposeful, systematic process of collecting and
evaluating products to document progress
toward the attainment of learning targets or
show evidence that a learning target has been
achieved.
• A collection of artifacts accompanied by a
reflective narrative that not only helps the
learner to understand and extend learning but
invites the reader of the portfolio to gain sight
about learning and the learner (Porter & Cleland,
1995)
THE PURPOSE OF PORTFOLIO
• To give students the opportunity to reflect on
their growth over a period of time.
• To use as a basis for assigning grades (based
on effort)
• To use as a basis for communication with
parents.

or the sole of assessment.

accomplishments and individual profile emerges.

observations, tests, checklist, and rating scale.

reflection. Examples are selected by teachers and
predetermined.
