The Home as the first learning environment for kids…
• The home is the first school where the
education of the child is to begin. • The educational influences of the home are a decided power for good or for evil.

LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS: • Upon all parents there rests the obligation of giving physical, mental, and spiritual instruction. • Parenting is a work of NO SMALL magnitude and importance --- a work requiring earnest thought and prayer no less than patient, persevering effort.
“A right foundation, must be laid, a framework, strong and
firm, erected. And then day by day the work of building, polishing, perfecting, must go forward.”

Not a secondary matter: • Home education is not a secondary matter. It occupies the FIRST PLACE in all true education.
• Home education is not by any means to be
neglected. Those who neglect it, neglect a sacred duty.
• The first care of the parents should be to establish
good government in the family.

The home as a school…
• Respect between husband and wife is the
road to becoming good parents. Each is to help the other bring into the home a pleasant, wholesome learning atmosphere for kids.
• The mother as a special instructor.
• An education broader than mere
instruction. WOMEN AND CHILDREN PROTECTION DESK [WCPD] GUINOBATAN MPS The beginning of child training
• Start when the mind is most
impressible.
• Make a right beginning.
• Train the first child.

Teaching strategies for parents:
The effect of a quiet, gentle manner.
Teach with kindliness and affection in requiring obedience from the child. Encourage independent thinking. Teach helpfulness at an early age. Give attention to little things. Talented children require greater care. Bedtime story-telling helps a lot. (Simple teachings from the BIBLE can be a great source of textbook about life) “Train” not “Tell. Educate for self-control and self-reliance.

Training and Preparation of Parents:
• Pray, it helps. Work in partnership with
the Divine. • Mother, this is your sacred work. • Day by day of love and kindness must be upon the lips of the parents. Love is one lesson we all learned from the Great Teacher.

The Lesson of OBEDIENCE - Let fathers and mothers remember that it is a higher branch of education to teach children obedience.
Obedience is a lesson of a lifetime.
Obedience to parental authority comes before
reason is developed and self-will grows strong.
Obedience to parents leads to Obedience to God.

Punishment and Discipline: The link
It teaches causes and effect. It helps children to
realize that their actions have consequences --- for other people and for themselves. It makes children take responsibility for their behavior. If they make the decision to do something, knowing it to be wrong, they must shoulder the responsibility. It reinforces the lines that we draw between right, or acceptable, and wrong, or unacceptable, behavior. It shows that we mean business.
