School in the home…

THE PARENTS AS
FIRST TEACHERS

Even Jesus secured His first education in the home.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN PROTECTION DESK [WCPD] GUINOBATAN MPS

Manual of Instructions for Parents?…

THERE IS NO HARD AND FAST RULE ON HOW

TO BECOME AN EFFECTIVE PARENT.

It may be born out of personal experiences,

influences from the environment, and one’s
faith to become a good parent against all
odds.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN PROTECTION DESK [WCPD] GUINOBATAN MPS

The Home as the first learning
environment for kids…

• The home is the first school where the

education of the child is to begin.
• The educational influences of the
home are a decided power for good or
for evil.

LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS:
• Upon all parents there rests the obligation of giving
physical, mental, and spiritual instruction.
• Parenting is a work of NO SMALL magnitude and
importance --- a work requiring earnest thought
and prayer no less than patient, persevering effort.

“A right foundation, must be laid, a framework, strong and

firm, erected. And then day by day the work of building,
polishing, perfecting, must go forward.”

WOMEN AND CHILDREN PROTECTION DESK [WCPD] GUINOBATAN MPS

Not a secondary matter:
• Home education is not a secondary matter. It
occupies the FIRST PLACE in all true education.

• Home education is not by any means to be

neglected. Those who neglect it, neglect a sacred
duty.

• The first care of the parents should be to establish

good government in the family.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN PROTECTION DESK [WCPD] GUINOBATAN MPS

The home as a school…

• Respect between husband and wife is the

road to becoming good parents. Each is to
help the other bring into the home a
pleasant, wholesome learning atmosphere
for kids.

• The mother as a special instructor.

• An education broader than mere

instruction.

upon the lips of the parents. Love is one
lesson we all learned from the Great
Teacher.

higher branch of education to teach children

realize that their actions have consequences ---
for other people and for themselves.
 It makes children take responsibility for their
behavior. If they make the decision to do
something, knowing it to be wrong, they must
shoulder the responsibility.
 It reinforces the lines that we draw between

 Working with children who have been victims of violence
in the home addresses concerns related to meaning,
hope for the future, and spiritual resources. Such
concerns are:
recapturing loss sense of order and meaning in the
universe
recreating hope in the violated child
instilling confidence in themselves and others
discerning God as the protector of the weak and the
righteous
discovering strength in weakness
discerning the way to recovery
rusting the children’s sources of resiliency

Food for our thoughts:
We are guilty of many errors and many
faults… but our worst crime is
abandoning children…
A CHILD CANNOT WAIT.
To him we cannot say “tomorrow.
His name is “TODAY”.
