Vision: A society where the human rights are
observed, promoted and protected.

Mission:
To guarantee a safe and secure working
environment for women human rights
defenders through capacity building,
advocacy and networking, and providing
feminist protection and emergency response
services.
 Inadequate protection capacities at individual and
organizational level.

 Limited knowledge and skills among some women HRDs on


how to conduct their work in a safe and non provocative
manner.

 A restrictive legal regime and shrinking civic space for


engagement on civil-political rights and social economic
rights. (POMA Act 2013, NGO Act, 2016 to mention but a few)

 Absence of protection and emergency response initiatives


that are feminist oriented.

 Absence of a strong platform and organizing mechanism to


bring together different women HRDs and stakeholders.

Strategic Choice 1: Strengthen the individual and
organizational digital and physical security of
women HRDs in order to improve quality and
quantity of their work.

1.1 Improved safety and security for individual


WHRDs and their organizations in order to
realize an increase in the quality and quantity
of their work.

1.2 Increased capacity of the women HRDs to


detect, mitigate and respond appropriately to
issues that undermine the safety & security of
HRDS.
Strategic Choice 2: Enhance advocacy, policy
influencing and networking to address the
policy related issues that affect the safety and
security of women HRDs.

2.1 Improved research, documentation and


learning on the issues affecting the safety and
security of WHRDs.

2.2 Increased policy advocacy engagement with


different stakeholders including duty bearers in
order to improve the safety and security of
women HRDs.
2.3 Improved coordination, networking and
collaboration amongst members and other
stakeholders at national, regional and
international level with like-minded entities
on the issues affecting the safety and security
of women HRDs.

2.4 Increased visibility and profile of the role


played by women HRDs and the issues that
affect their safety and security.

services to women HRDs under eminent
threats.

3.1 Improved timeliness and response in providing
