SELF ASSESSMENT OF MY

BLOG
STARTING THE BLOG

• When we were assigned to create the blog, I had no idea that google counted
with many useful applications. The first thing that the teacher asked us to to
was to make a gmail account. With this gmail account we had to receive an
inviation by the teacher to be part of the issue academic circle. I didn’t have
the slightest clue of what was a circle. The second instruction was creating a
blog with an introduction . I found it diffcult to select the template because I
was unfamiliar with the menu and settings of this application. Once I had
uploaded my introduction, I was not sure how to make it visible for others to
see or if the application did it automatically. As time went on i knew how to
upload my post for the same blog.

• The first blog entry post that I


submitted was the introduction of
the following post that I was going
to upload. Here I gave a general
idea of what the audience would
find in my blog. I also mentioned
how Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT)
are part of our daily lives. I also
mention the specific areas of
education that my essay focuses on
and the impact of ICT with the tools

• In this introction section, I included all the posts that I uploaded to my blog. I
did not receive and comments or feedbacks from my classmates in this
section. I would have liked for them to have commented if I was clear enough
with my explanations if there were any grammar or spelling mistakes.
FIRST DRAFT OF
ESSAY
• The first version my essay was about the
use of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) in the field of
education. I did not like this essay
because I was not explicit with the
information and I felt that the examples
that I mentioned focused more in the
past years rather than this modern era.
• Another observation that I made with my
first draft of the essay was the title, I did
not feel that it was simple but straight to
the point.
FIRST DRAFT OF ESSAY EXPLANATION
CONTINUED
• My first version of the essay was also the structure of the paragraphs and I
saw that I only had four paragraphs. I knew that I was missing information
when I created my first rehearsal of the video. I spoke about my essay in less
tan 2 minutes and I saw that I could have added more recent tools to my
information. Also I knew I could improve with the explanation of each tool
• I received to critism in this post and I don´t know if the second and final draft
of my essay was better or the same as this one. I questioned myself if this
was enough information to talk about 20 minutes. My answer was NO.
FINAL VERSION OF ESSAY
• Since this was second draft that I made,
it was easier for me to gather and
organize my ideas better. I rescued
some written information for my first
esssay with the exception that this time I
extended myself with the explanation of
the tools.
• Things that I modified from the first to
the last version were the title. I made my
title shorter but that it got the message
clear to the audience. I also divided my
ideas into more paragraphs and I used
other authors for more explicit
information about the tolos used in ICT

• Areas of opportunity for me in this final essay is to check the structure of my


essay making sure it follows the APA format and I have to use above average
because I consider that my selection of vocabulary is very simple
• As for my classmates, only three classmates commented my blog
MAPS FROM THE REFERENCES I USED
• The creation of the mind maps
helped my when I did my video.
Before doing these maps I had
already done my essay so going
back to the references that I used
was an issue for me. Since I had
made two versions of my essay I
also had added more authors and I
had to check each reference to find
the ones that I used for my final
version. The total of the mind maps
are five even though I read 6.
MAPS CONTINUED

• The application that I used was mindmeister. I thought I knew how to make a
mind map because I thought that it relevant information had to be written
and the lines that connected one idea with another were they to make it look
prettier. I was completely lost. With the mindmesiter I discovered that the
lines that connect the ideas have to have a word that related it with the other
ideas. This application I found challenging for me. One of the challenges that
I encountered myself with was the templates. I had limited templates that I
had available and organizing my ideas to write onto my mind maps was a
mess for me It took me 3 days to be selective with the information that I
wrote down
SURVEY

• This section I still have trouble in


making a survey that gathers
enough information in order for me
get a general idea
• I centered the questions in the types
of tools that i read about and how
they are applied here in Mexico. I
tried to make questions not only for
teacher and students but for people
that use ICT in general.
SPEAKING
• The last section of my blog is the videos. I don
´t know if this last assignment was suppose to
be the easiest because we as students has
already unrgone a process of investigating,
writing about the information that we read,
made mind maps, and done a questionaire or
the hardest because it was minimum 20
minutes. For me it went from easy to hard. I
began well because I had clear of how I was
going to start and as time went on, i found less
things to say in the second part.
• In the second part of my speaking section, I
decided to give personal experiences with ICT
and the education that I received. I also
mentioned how I use it as a teacher and my
perspective of ICT.
GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE BLOG AND
EXPERIENCE
• I still need to work on my capacity of abstraction, analysis and synthesis more
because when i was gathering information i had to reread the articles roe tan
3 times to fully understand what they had written. Analysis a text/article goes
more than just Reading, its comprehending and looking deeper at the author
´s message
• My capacity for written communication needs to be worked on because I have
always struggled when I write. I will find out about courses that the faculty
offers for academic writing.
• My ability of using ICT especifically for educational purposes increased
because now I know more about Google and I learned to use may other tools
for my blog
• communicating in a second language, organizing and planning my time was
no problem for me I just need to keep it up.
