KNOWLEDGE
• The CCAP, Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy, study was conducted to
measure how much consumers felt that they knew about GM (genetically
modified) foods and biotechnology. Overall, it seems that the consumer in
the United States knows “little” (54.6%) about GM foods and biotechnology.
In second place is having “no knowledge” on the subject at 21.8% and
coming in close it having a “fair amount” of knowledge at 21.2%. Only 2.2%
of the consumers in the study are extremely knowledgeable about
biotechnology and GM foods.

Characteristics
ACCEPTANCE BASED ON CHARACTERISTICS
• The study was conducted to see how different variables affect the
acceptance of GM plants and animals. Males are more likely to accept
modified plants and animals over females. People who received a higher
education are also reported to have a high acceptance rate over those
who only received a high school education. Rural areas seem to be more
accepting of GM plants and animals when compared to urban areas.
