 Among the vendors that we interviewed are high
school and elementary level only one of them is
college level. Experience is the only training they gain
on handling their sold products. No training or
seminars they have experience. Thus, it is a big
problem for Them. The losses of there products can
affect their daily income because almost 30 percent
contribute to their losses.
 If the vendors are well trained or if the government
will create a free program that could help them to
become educated about proper postharvest handling
of the products. It could help people to recover and
gain high income thus it can help their family to
sustain.

Discussion:
 We are assigned at Polomolok Public Market Fruits and Vegetables section to
interview postharvest handling practices of vendors. The tabulated data shows
that the common problem that the farmers encountered mostly is improper
handling due to lack of knowledge and skills that leads them to loss their
products. Most of the vendors are high school graduate, some of them are
elementary level and this can be also the reason why they don’t know how to
manage properly of their products.
Reasons can be:
 The storage facility of there product in general is quite bad because they are
careless of what they do and it is not properly handled hence it leads to losses.
 The fruits are not properly arranged.
 No proper ventilation that leads them to early over ripening.
 Lack of knowledge on postharvest handling.
 The vegetables have no proper storage.
In summary, having well skilled, complete
knowledge and good facilities during
postharvest handling the vendors can
maintain the quality of their fruits and
vegetables and less losses will be
attained.
