 My country is Jamaica. The reason I chose it is
because it looks fun and the water there is clear and
looks fun to play in.
Jamaica is located in North America and below
Cuba.
The national language is English but some of the
population speaks Patois.
As of November 7, 2018 the population of Jamaica is
2,901,650.

Geography and Climate
These are some physical features in Jamaica. There is
the Blue Mountains, the Black River, and the Kingston
Harbor.
The climate is usually Tropical, hot, and humid.
Most people live in Kingston Jamaica. Kingston is the
capital of Jamaica and most populated with 666,041.

Government and Economics
They have a constitutional monarchy system. The monarchy is
queen Elizabeth the 2. They also have a minister (Andrew
Michael Holness), a leader(Dr. Peter Phillips), and a governor
(Sir Patrick Phillips).
Their know to export sugar, but also export bauxite, rum,
coffee, yams, beverages, mineral fuels, and wearing apparel.
The two big ones are sugar and bananas.
Jamaica's economy has grown on average less than 1% a
year for the last three decades and many impediments
remain to growth: a bloated public sector which crowds out
spending on important projects; high crime and corruption;
red-tape; and a high debt-to-GDP ratio.
Kingston, Harbor is where they export sugar and
stuff like that.

Jamaica is jerked chicken.
 Onebig drink in Jamaica is rum and
something they export in Jamaica at the
Kingston Harbor.

Values and Beliefs
Most practice Protestantism. Protestantism is the faith,
practice, and church order of the Protestant churches.
One of their main beliefs are Protestant. Protestant is a
member or follower of any of the Western Christian
churches that are separate from the Roman Catholic
Church and follow the principles of the Reformation,
including the Baptist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran church.

 Theyare usually a nuclear family. A nuclear family is a


family with two parents and their children.

 Theyusually do 11 years of school and then some go to


college.

 A tradition in Jamaica that is widely practiced in Christianity.
 These are the holidays celebrated in Jamaica.

 You might think that Boxing day Is a day
where they box physically, but they don't. It is
a day were the week after Christmas servants
would get a box from there master and go
home for the day. On that day most people
get the day off from work and there would
be big sales like black Friday.

Scientific Contributions
 They were one of the first in the American
hemisphere to build a railway and to use
research results to boost sugar cane
production. Cicely Williams of Westmoreland,
Jamaica was a pioneer in the field of
medicine and medical research. She was
Jamaica's first female doctor, and an
international leader in mother and child care
during the early 20th century.
 Dr. Thomas P Lecky made two new breeds of
cattle that adapted to their climate.

 Bauxite,copper and nickel; industrial minerals


such as limestone, gypsum, silica sand,
marble, sand and gravel deposits; and stones
such as gold, silver, and platinum.
 Theyconsume a lot of crude oil and
petroleum products.(90 percent of their
energy needs these.)

Native Animals
A weird animal is patoo. In Jamaica the name Patoo is
either in reference to the Great Patoo, a nocturnal
insectivore bird that can be found in the Caribbean,
Central and South America. Patoo also refers to the Barn
owl, another distinct nocturnal bird species that can be
found in various parts of the word that feeds on small
mammals, other birds or insects.
 Native or religion animals is Crocodile, Iguana, and a
Mongoose.
