INNOVATION in NURSING EDUCATION PHILIPPINES Program Description:
This four-year program with two (2) summer
terms consists of general education and professional courses with related learning experiences as mandated by the Commission on Higher Education in its Memorandum CMO-15-s-2017 The program provides an intensive nursing practicum in the form of related learning experiences that will refine the clinical skills from first year level to ensure basic clinical competencies required of a beginning nurse practitioner. These competencies are obtained under proper supervision and guidance of clinical instructors with the cooperation of Nursing Service Staff of the basic and special areas of the Hospital. Nursing in specialty areas is being supplemented by affiliation with hospitals and health centers under the Department of Health and the communities adopted by the University in close coordination with the barangay. PH PROGRAM CURRICULUM The curriculum for BS Nursing includes:
general education courses,
professional courses, related learning experience and research project. General Education Courses essentially prepare the students for the study of Language and Humanities; Mathematics, Natural Science and Information Technology; Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Mandated Courses and Theology. Professional Courses prepare the students to the subfields of nursing such as: Theories and Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical- Surgical Nursing, Maternal and Child Nursing, Community Health and Communicable Disease Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Professional Adjustment and Nursing Leadership and Management. Related Learning Experience provides the students teaching-learning opportunities designed to develop the competencies of students utilizing processes in various health situations. These could be sourced from, but not limited to: lying-in clinics, schools, industrial establishments, community, out- patient clinics and general and specialty hospitals. Research Project enables students to apply research skills, from conceptualization of a research topic to data gathering, writing and presentation of findings through a thesis defense. Dissemination of the research study is also part of the program through a research conference and translation of the research project in to a publishable format. The students are given two terms to finish their research project. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Choosing to study nursing in the USA will give you the opportunity to study in state-of- the-art clinical facilities and train under the guidance of leading lecturers in the field. As an international student nurse, you will train in acute care hospitals, hospice care centers and outreach clinics. USA - LPN/LVN • LPN or LVN Programs • The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) training programs are approximately one year long. An LPN/LVN works under the direction of a registered nurse. A LVN/LPN nurse provides basic patient care, such as taking vital signs and patient monitoring. The state requires an LPN to pass a national licensing exam for state certification following training completion. According to the US Department of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage of licensed practical and licensed vocational nurse is $39,030 US. ADN PROGRAMS • ADN Programs • The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) training program can take between 15 months and two years to complete. This associate degree program focuses on technical training.
