EMERGENCY PROCEDURE

Definitions
Land Immediately. Urgency of ldg is paramount, primary
consideration is to assure survival of occupants. Ldg in
trees, water and other unsafe areas should be considered
only as last resort
Land As Soon Possible. Land without delay at nearest
suitable area (i.e. open fd) at which a safe apch and ldg is
reasonably assured.
Land As Soon As Practicable. Ldg site and duration of
flt are at the discretion of pilot. Extended flt beyond
nearest approved ldg area is not recommended.
Wng. An operating procedure practice etc. which if not
correctly followed could result in personal injury or
loss of life.
Caution. An operating procedure practice etc which if not
correctly observed could result in damage to or
destruction of equipment.
Note. An operating procedure, practice which is essential
to highlight.

• Maint state & lvl flt.
• Cfm which eng has failed.
• Sel lever of the failed eng to lower stop.
• Attempt restart if situation permits.
• If restart not possible, close cut off lever of failed eng.
• Sw off fuel shut off valve of failed engine.
• Carry out pre ldg checks.
• Perform running ldg or zero spd depending on sit.
Single Eng Failure In Flt

Caution. Never start the failed eng in flt unless

failure is due to weather/icing conditions or fuel
booster pump failure.
Consideration. It is allowed to op single eng in
emergency pwr for 2.5 min and T/O mode for
30 min.
Single Eng Failure On Take
Off Apch

Single Eng Failure On Take
Off Apch

Corrective Actions
• Check yaw.
• Maintain R rpm not below 92%.
• If in translational lift, cont T/O / execute go around.
• If transition to fwd flt is impossible, put down the hel
with fwd motion and cushion the ldg with coll (R rpm may be
dropped up to 70% during cushioning of ldg).
Consideration. It is preferable to cont T/O / execute go
around and make a comfortable ldg on a sel gr with single eng.

• At 70-60m start reducing spd by flaring out.
• At 25-15m smoothly reduce ROD with collective.
Both Eng Failures In Flt

• At 6-5m push cyc fwd to lvl the hel.

• Apply remaining collective pitch to cushion the
ldg.
• When ldg gears touch the gr ROD should
be zero and fwd spd 40-50 kph.
• After ac touches the gr, dec coll pitch to
min and make nose wheel touch the gr.
• After touch down cut off fuel supply to the
engs.
Abnormal Eng Vibration

Corrective Actions
Throttle fully closed. (Left).
Lower collective to land.
Land with fwd motion.
Touch down on 3 wheels; apply collective to
cushion ldg.
Consideration. It is better to make hard ldg on 3

rotation in hvg which may put the hel out of
control.

collective (preferable apch angle should be
5-7°).
Maintain speed till 5-10 m from gr.
At 5-10 m AGL, decelerate the hel by raising
nose att upto 10° and lower coll further to
avoid ballooning up.
Touch down with 50-60 kph speed on main
wheels without applying collective.

Corrective Actions
Apply cyc to the right to maintain dir and roll
off the throttle.

kph. Land the hel by auto ldg tech. (Expect
rotation while applying coll for cushioning of
ldg).

rpm but no con is aval, through pedals. The
smooth and gradual mov of coll lever would allow
better con on yawing of hel.
