Technology has increasingly become an integrated part of our lives-so much so that it

seems preposterous to even think of doing the most simple, routine tasks without the use of cellular
phone, laptop computer, or personal global positioning system, more commonly known as GPS.
While people of all ages increasingly use technology, chldren are among the most frequent users of
technologies. (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2010). Just as technology has changed aspects of our
daily lives, it is undoubtedly changing education. Technological advances provides easier facilitation
of and access to information, but technology does not change the message received by students, or
the students ability to grasp and retain information (Thulow, Lengel, & Tomic, 2004, p.42).
During the last 2 decades, higher education institutions have invested heavily in ICT. ICT
has had a major impact in the university context, in organization and n teaching and learning
methods.
One puzzling question is the effective impact of these technologies on students’
achievement and on the returns of education.

The students’ academic performance refers to the enhancements of the student’s current
state of knowledge and skills reflected in their GPA and also in the formulation of their personality
and academic growth from lower level of study to high levels. The rational of studying academic
performance in the context if ICT is to present a significant relationship that exist between the 2
variable.
Numerous studies have been undertaken to investigate the relationship between the ICT
and students performance; however, this studies have not been able to establish precisely the impact
of ICT on student’s performance.
The purpose of this research study is to examine the relationship between the use of
information & communication technologies (ICT) and student performance in senior high school.
The study intended to find out how Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) influence the Academic
Performance of Grade 12 Confucius Students of Goldenstate
College.

Goldenstate College
The focus of this research work is to primarily
study the Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) and its effects on the academic
performance among Grade 12 Confucius students in
Goldenstate College. This was limited and specified
to the 20 Grade 12 students in Confucius section in
Goldenstate College. The data is collected between
2018 to 2019.
This research is significant to the teachers, guardian/parents,
fellow students and the future researchers

To the Teachers
This study will help the teachers of Goldenstate College to know the
impact of modern technology on their students, to help them to illuminate and
make attention to the students on the conceivable impact it has on them.

To the Guardian/Parents
The research is critical to guardians/parents as in they will know the
conceivable impacts these technology has on their kids, in order to fill in as guard
dog to their kids on the use of technology.

To the Students
The study will empower the students of the Grade 12 so they will know
that separated from the academic benefits, utilizing these technologies more that
necessary will posture conceivable perils to their wellbeing.

To the Future Researchers

The study will help researchers with more information about the
Information and Communication Technology: a tool affecting the academic
performance of grade 12 Confucius students of Goldenstate College and will
make this as a basis for their future study.
As words may mean differently in different contexts, the following
definitions are given as the words used as intended to be understood for
the purpose of this study.

Academic Performance
Extent to which students, teacher or institution has achieved their
educational goals, e.g, written works, performance and exam

ICT
Information and Communication Technology. All devices, networking
components, applications and systems that combined and allow the Grade 12-
Confucius to interact in the digital world, e.g, smart phones, computers and
internet.

 who studied whether ICT practices affected student
achievement states that the study was conducted
measuring a specific set of data depicting teacher use
of ICT and assessment scores on a national test for
tenth grade students. After analyzing the data, one
finding was that computer-based teaching methods
did increase student achievement, if the teacher is
able to obtain materials needed for preparation of
lectures, and provided the delivery of the information
increases student awareness. The conclusion was that
the effectiveness of ICT depends on teachers' ability
to properly integrate ICT into pedagogy.

 who conducted a study to investigate whether
teachers are truly using ICT to promote
critical thinking skills in elementary class
rooms state that there were twelve teachers
selected for their study who had been
considered to possess a high level of ICT
literacy in science lessons.
 stated in their study that the benefits of the
use of ICT are not always observable. They
compared the use of ICT with students to the
non-use of ICT in the classroom. Two groups
were studied and the researchers conclusion
is that the subjective norm appears to be the
only effects behaviors. The researchers
opinion is that ICT integration is not an
effective tool for teaching at any level of
educational achievement.

Methodology
• Research Design
Data collected was mainly presented by use of quantitative method.
• Research Local
This study will be conducted in the Goldenstate College specifically in the Grade
12 Confucius classroom.
• Research Method
This study used a descriptive survey method used to asses the profile: name,
age and gender of the respondent, cause and effect of using ICT to the academic
performance of Grade 12 – Confucius students of Goldenstate College, School Year 2018-
2019.
• Respondents Of the Study
The proposed research selected the Grade 12- Confucius students of
Goldenstate College. The proponent had come up with 20 students.
• Sampling Technique
The random sampling procedure is used in the research for sample collection.
• Gathering of Data
In the conduct of the study, the researchers solicited the support of the Grade
12- Confucius adviser, Ma’am Lelibeth Labra, allowing her students to read and answer the
needed data. The researchers will ask the permission of the Grade 12- Confucius adviser
to allow the researchers use 1 hour class session to let the students read and answer the
questionnaire. The result of the test will be recorded by the teacher so as to have valid and
reliable information. The data will be tallied, analyzed and interpreted according to the
specific problems set forth.
• Statistical Treatment
Frequency and Percentage Distribution is used to determine the percentage for
the data of the profiles. The formula used is f=n/100, where f as frequency and n as
number of cases. Part 2 and part 3 of the questionnaire will be using the formula of mean
to get the average of central value of the statements given. The formula is x=∑x/n where x
is mean, ∑x is the sum of all score and n is the number of cases.
