Yes. HUL had filed a case against Amul’s factually incorrect advertisement on frozen desserts on 21st
March 2017. The Hon’ble Bombay High Court has issued an order on 16th June 2017 asking Gujarat
Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul ice cream, to stop telecasting its
misleading television advertisement with immediate effect. The Court found the advertisement
disparaging the ’Frozen Desserts’ category.

addition to milk protein, fat is also needed. The difference between frozen dessert and ice cream is that
frozen dessert use vegetable fat (referred to as edible vegetable oil/palm oil in the labelling) in place of
milk fat, which actually makes it healthier with no cholesterol, and lower saturated fat.

Vanaspati means any refined edible vegetable oil subjected to the hydrogenation process. Vegetable oils
