Personal Background

Originally an immigrant from China, Andrew


Tan was born in the Fujian province. He spent
his childhood at an apartment in Hong
Kong which was shared by other families.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the
University of the East with the degree of Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration.
He is married with four children and lives
in Manila, Philippines.
Tan runs the Alliance Global Group Inc.
(AGI). It is composed of three companies
 Megaworld Corporation – A real estate corporation
engaged in developing condominiums. It has subsidiaries
called Empire East and Suntrust Properties.

 Emperador Distillers, Inc. – Best known for its Emperador


Brandy which became the world's best-selling brandy in
2006, and Emperador Light.

 Golden Arches Development Corporation


– Operates McDonald's franchises.
In 2011, Forbes magazine rated him fourth on the list of the
"Philippines 40 richest" with an estimated net worth of $2
billion.
His net worth is currently at $2.6B
Historical Background of the Company
Megaworld Corporation, founded by Dr. Andrew L.
Tan, was incorporated and registered with the
Securities and Exchange Commission on August
24,1989. It was listed on the Philippine Stock
Exchange on June 15, 1994.

The company commenced its operations with the


construction of a residential condominium in the
Greenhills area of Manila. In 1994, the company
expanded its operations, taking advantage of
increased demand and economic stability.
The principal business activity of Megaworld
is property development for sale and
property investment for rental purposes.
Andrew Tan has served as Chairman of the
Board and President of the company since its
incorporation in 1989.
The company anchors its staying power and
buoyant performance even in a challenging
business environment on its solid grasp of the
property market's evolving requirements at
any given time.

Megaworld Foundation Inc.
Since its establishment in 1999, Megaworld
Foundation has placed socio-economic
development and the empowerment of the less
privileged at the core of its endeavors.
It primarily by promoting education through
scholarship programs for financially handicapped
but deserving students. It also supports causes that
promote poverty alleviation, people empowerment,
social justice, good governance, environmental
conservation and other noble undertakings.
History of Megaworld Foundation, Inc.
• It was established in 1999 as Megaworld
Corporation’s socio-civic arm. It initially offered
scholarship grants to students taking up Engineering
and Architecture courses at the University of the
Philippines and Mapua Institute of Technology,
where it sponsored 70 scholars from first to fourth
year. Since 1999, the Foundation has also given
financial assistance and support to a variety of
organizations that aim to promote social justice and
improve the lives of Filipinos.

Vision
• Megaworld Foundation, Inc. envisions to be a
leading foundation that promotes corporate social
responsibility by organizing and supporting
educational and charitable programs geared toward
the social and economic development of the less
privileged.

socio-civic organizations

Employee Volunteerism and Involvement
Megaworld Foundation promotes a culture of
volunteerism and community involvement among
its ranks. It organized activities where more than
two-hundred individuals participated and totaling
more than three thousand volunteer hours in
various projects; ranging from feeding projects,
medical missions, hospital repainting and also
environmental advocacies to name a few.
Products & Services
Providing Shelter and Affordable Housing
Megaworld partnered with international institutions
to help offer decent shelter to the less privileged
and the displaced victims of calamities.
CSR Activities outside the company
Customers
Continuous upgrading of skills and expertise of key
people in the Customer Relations Department so
that they can provide customers with service of the
highest quality. Institutionalization of the Customer
Feedback System and Customer Delight Activities.
Natural Resources
105,000 m2 of land planted with trees to
conserve a source of drinking water for
12 million Filipinos.
Physical Resources
Scholarship Program
As its first major initiative in 1999, the Foundation
launched a college scholarship program in two pilot
universities in Metro Manila, to help bright but
needy students in realizing their dreams.

From 2009 of having one-hundred (111) scholars it


increased to four-hundred seven (407) this 2011.
This was possible through partnership with twenty-
one universities and colleges.

Institution Partnership- Sponsorship and Donations
 Strengthening the Country’s Education System.
Megaworld aspired to strengthen the educational
system of the country in any way we can—from
constructing classrooms and providing school facilities
to research sponsorships.
 Supporting Welfare Projects for Children, Women, and
the Elderly

Megaworld gave financial assistance to projects


that involved alleviating the welfare of children and
youth, women, and the elderly.
 Improving the Delivery of Philippine Health Care
Megaworld helped improve the delivery of
Philippine health care by donating to major
hospitals and institutions that bring basic
healthcare at the grassroots level.
• Responding to Environmental Concern and
Calamities
Megaworld also partnered with institutions to
help answer current environmental issues and to
extend help to victims of calamities that struck the
country in 2012.
Aside from youth welfare, the Foundation also
reaches out to the disadvantaged and people
with disabilities and to the abandoned elderly,
children and mentally challenged persons, by
recognizing the sector’s contributions through
giving support to Cottolengo Filipino,
Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Create a Job for the
Disabled, Angelique Vizoro Deaf Ministry
Foundation, Inc., Autism Society Philippines
and Philippine Foundation for the
Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Inc..
Andrew Tan said that, “We

Recommendations
Although a lot of CSR activities have implemented
but in terms of production and office administration
inside the company doesn’t have any CSR activities.

Provide scholarships to more school especially


schools in province.
