RATIONALE
“November is Filipino Values Month by virtue of
Proclamation No. 479 signed on October 7, 1994 by then
President Fidel Ramos. According to the proclamation, the
celebration of Filipino Values Month is a desirable and
effective measure to create moral awakening and national
consciousness on human values that are unique, genuine and
positively Filipino.” – Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research

Filipinos are known globally for their values which

serve as their guiding principle in coping with the vicissitudes
of life. Positive values, especially respect for man’s dignity and
honor, make Filipinos productive, responsible and law-abiding.
These values we hold sacred distinguish us from others as a
nation and an individual.
RATIONALE
We strongly believe that values formation starts in the family, school,
workplace, and in the community. Anchored on the four pillars –makaDiyos
(pero-God), makatao (pro-people), makabansa (pro-country), and
makakalikasan (pro-nature), the ESP/Values Education area recognizes the
vital role of the school in reinforcing the promotion of values education by
providing opportunities for the youth to impart to others the values they
learn at home and in their assimilation with peers and superiors. In
celebration of the Filipino Values Month in November, the ESP area in joint
collaboration with the ESP club, Guidance Office, and the Principal’s Office
will be spearheading an activity entitled “Po at Opo Week” with the theme
Theme: “Mapanuring Paggamit ng Gadget: Tungo sa Mapagkalingang
Ugnayan sa Pamilya at Kapuwa” which we plan to conduct on November 26 –
29, 2018. It encourages everyone to take time out to transform the quality of
their thoughts, feelings, and actions to that which will bring positive and
peaceful outcomes.

Through this initiative, we adhere to promote and strengthen the

values that mirror the country’s rich tradition and cultural heritage.
OBJECTIVES
Specifically, the Po at Opo Week aims to:
• Empower and support youth as agents of social inclusion
and peace.
• Increased commitment and investment in youth, increased
youth participation, and promote youth interactions,
networks and partnerships.
• Facilitated coordinated campaign measures that actively
participated in by all DLQMHS community.
• Create an effective measure of moral awakening and
national consciousness on human values that are unique,
genuine and positively Filipino.
