StockHolding was incorporated as a Public


Limited Company in 1986. It has been jointly
promoted by leading Banks and Financial
Institutions. StockHolding is a subsidiary of
IFCI Limited. The equity capital of
StockHolding is presently held by LIC, GIC,
IFCI Ltd., SU-UTI, NIA, NIC, UIC, and TOICL,
all leaders in their respective fields of business.

OF THE STUDY
Need
The brief study on revealed the fact that number of studies have been
carried out in the area of assest management companies and their
products but in Indian context, still a wide gap exist in the research field
with particular stress on the same aspect. In order to fill the research
gap the need aroused to study about the products of depository
particpant SHCIL, Jalandhar.

Scope of the Study


The scope of the study was limited to customers of Stock Holding
Corporation of India, Jalandhar.

Objectives
To study the awareness of respondents towards depository participants.
To study the products of SHCIL respondents have employed.
To study the most frequent defaults in the service of SHCIL.

All the respondents are aware of the Depository services. All the
respondents are aware about all the depository participants.
Respondents came to know about the depository participants from
their friends, brokers.

Majority of respondents are dealing with the SHCIL since 3-5 years
and since 1-3 years. Respondents invested in mutual fund,
insurance, equity shares, government securities, gold and
debentures etc. Majority investors prefers trading through brokers
and the brokers charge commission from such investors.

According to majority of the respondents prefer Govt. Securities,


Mutual Funds and Debt/Bonds investment avenues are safe. It was
found out that according to majority of the respondents mutual
funds gives higher return followed by equity shares. Investors think
that there is enquiry problem in the services of DP, it provides
insufficient information, there is delay in statement delivery.
Investors think that Profit maximization is the most important
factor for the company to enhance loyalty & customers.
• To encourage the existing and prospective shareholders,
all efforts should be made to ensure good returns, in
addition to providing greater security and safety.
• Since the investors expect better service form depository
participants, it should provide them value-added
services.
• The processing of the DEMAT account opening should
be made fast and non-tedious.
• The DEMAT a/c holder should be given basic
information about NSDL, CDSL and Depositaries Act
1996.
• Clear picture of the deductions made by depository
participant or the charges levied on the customers
should be provided in black and white.
• The processing of the demat account opening should be
made fast.
