common mode characteristic of the three
phase inverter.

propose a three phase topology to

suppress the common mode voltage.
Aim of this
Presentation Add NPC circuit to the novel topology to
improve performance.

simulation and experimental results

Traditional Inverters

-four common mode levels, 0, Udc/3, 2Udc/3, Udc.

-reduce the leakage current is by suppressing the
fluctuation range of the CM voltage.
-Fluctuation in null state
Traditional
inverter with
NPC circuit

• -Has twelve switches and six diodes.

• -Costs lots more than the traditional two level inverter.
• -The conducting losses of the NPC inverter is higher
than the two level inverter.
The proposed topology

- Additional freewheeling circuit.

- The null states of the traditional inverter
are improved.
- The leakage current will be significantly
attenuated.
The Needs fewer switches than other Less switch, less device cost.

comparison topologies used to suppress the

common mode voltage.

with
traditional
topologies
Less switch, less conduction loss.
Simulation results
• Simulated in Matlab/Simulink

• DC voltage is 400V, grid voltage

is 110V/50Hz, inverter
frequency is 10kHz.
• Inductors are all 2mH, stray
capacitance is 470nF.
