This Starter Kit was designed to provide you with the
guidance needed to start your Contractor Safety
Management Program. It provides you with a straw-
model process to follow, a checklist of

guidance to help you implement your Contractor Safety
Management Program.
This straw model process is drawn to match the steps in the
OEMS.

their efforts toward completing the cultural shift
toward world class and improving contractor safety
performance in ChevronTexaco.

CSM Guidance Document

• First, the Guidance Document provides Guiding


Principles that will lead the cultural shift needed to
achieve world-class contractor safety performance
• Second, it outlines the Corporation’s Operational
Excellence Expectations specifically designed with
contractor safety in mind
• Third, it provides guidance in meeting those
expectations and supplies OPCOs and BUs with
suggested practices, tools, and resources that may
help in the development of organizational-specific
