Campus Planning
The Planning Group is not only an integral unit within Facilities Management
and Planning but also a direct professional resource to leadership through
the Chief Administrative Officer. The Planning Group's primary role is to
facilitate the planning and implementation of capital projects, such as
renovations, major moves and new construction. The Planning Group is
actively involved with all aspects of campus development.Facilities
Management and Planning Team is a group of professionals managing the
full life cycle of the entire campus physical facilities including planning,
development, construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance.
We are dedicated to maintain an efficient and effective physical environment
that supports academic and research eminence and successful student life
experience.

Develop and manage feasibility studies or proposals, undertake needs analyses, collect,
review and interpret project-related information, prepare site development criteria and
building space programs
Prepare documentation and presentations needed for approval and support from the
University's and governance processes
Co-ordinate and supervise outside consultants, client representatives, and University and
government agencies during the planning, design, and implementation processes
Representation on and provide resource support to project planning and implementation
committees
Assist the University's Capital Projects Department and Campus and Facilities Division, and
Facilities Management and Planning department through to occupancy by clarifying
programming and design details, liasing with client groups, preparing revised design
details, scheduling and co-ordinating finish selection, furniture and equipment purchases,
telecommunications
Participate in the formulation and implementation of campus master planning and
strategic planning processes
Undertake regular reviews of space utilization and requirements analysis, and prepare
planning options and solutions
Development, establishment and policing of standards related to building and landscape
design, and ensure that the and surrounding community's heritage and aesthetic values
are preserved, and that a safe and accessible environment and sustainable practices are
fostered for the entire university community

Utilities
The Utilities Department is responsible for maintaining:
Supply and maintenance of services to campus, including hydro,
natural gas, propane, and water/sewer
Maintain mechanical and electrical systems providing heating,
cooling, & fume hood operations
Support reliable operation of washrooms, elevators, kitchens, etc.

The Grounds department is responsible for the

Campus cleaning detail: Grounds is responsible for keeping outdoor areas clean
and free of litter. The Grounds Department also coordinates Waste and Recycling
operations on campus including temporary bin services.

Facilities Management
Facilities Management & Planning is an administrative unit
responsible for construction; renovation; and maintenance
of the physical fabric comprising campus.
Main responsibilities include the following:
Maintain and manage the campus buildings, manage
and maintain campus Infrastructure
Ensure the building code and safety code compliance
Conduct space and facility planning
Manage construction and renovation projects
Provide a sustainable working environment
Support recycling
Provide campus access key and keycard services
Provide custodial services
Manage receiving, shipping and stores.

Project Management
Manage small to medium-sized renovations and
construction projects. These services include:
Project budget estimatesLab renovation
Project design, tender documents and management
Project building consultation - architectural, structure,
mechanical and electrical
Project space alterations via work orders, project
request, and/or space planning and management
committee (SPMC) forms of approval (see project
request forms)
Coordinate project entry hardware and security system
Coordinate project case goods and system furniture
Coordinate lab equipment service upgrades
Coordinate caretaking service requirements for
projects
